Just wondering what is wth all these challanges that I keep seeing posted. Trying to get the most yardage per month in a specific event. Who's allowed in cause that would definitly get my mileage up each month.

I think the only requirements are that you have to be a man or a woman, though some of us might be doing a little "fence sitting."

Uh, I kinda doubt it. You're a good looking man, Max, but you make a damn ugly woman.

  1. If you need the answer to any question, title your thread "Q for Men Only" and you will get loads of information from the women.
  2. For 3 months now, we've spontaneously started challenges. You will see an announcement at the end of month/first of month. Rules of engagement are announced. Last 2 months we just happened to setup Ladies v Mens challenges; there has been talk of forming separate teams for new challenges.

Renee,

I definately vote for assigned/drafted teams instead of gender specific. It seems that gender based teams rally people really well, which can be a positive and a negative. I would prefer to compete against other teams with members from both sexes.

you mean that WASN'T supposed to go in the BT newsletter?????? my bad....

Is that where the confessions thread went???

Me personally.. I'd rather scrap the whole team thing all together and make it personal..

If teams are chosen.. maybe small teams of 4-5 randomly picked or chosen based on mileage.. (i.e. a team has individuals who ride various amounts of miles.. not all in the same range)

What kind of challenge will it be this month? Swim? Bike? Run? I have been slacking off for the past 2 weeks and really need a challenge to get me going. It is either that or I need one of you to come here and kick my lazy butt!!!!!!

I wouldn't mind a running challenge.  I'm looking at a half-marathon in late August, but don't know if I have enough weeks left to train up for it.

soopergirl - 2005-06-30 11:51 AM Ok, what is the brick suggestion?????

I think it was Nikki that had the idea. Just a matter of coming up with the challenge rules and how to track that someone indeed did a brick and not just a bike in the morning and run in the evening when they post in their training log.

I am down for biking and/or running! We could form teams with 4 to 6 people. We could include people with training goals ranging from IM, HIM, Oly, and Sprint or something like that to balance out the teams.

At this point, with 10 weeks to go until race day, I'm debating on whether I would get into a "run challenge" (the next logical challenge step) or if I would be better served to follow the 1/2 IM plan I have.

Voting today, I would elect to follow the training plan .... much of it seems to be getting more specific to racing, rather than just logging miles. The plan does have "focused weeks".

I'd like to resubmit one of the suggestions by one of this month's Goddesses. How about this month, in order to prevent overtraining, percentage of goal does not matter. Only attainment of goal. For instance, the team that wins has the most % members who got to their goal, not the highest avg % of goal.
