I have been considering getting a breast reduction and was wondering if anyone on this site has had it done and what was their experience.
I'm sick of having to double bra, bouncing, and just plain trying to support the girls. It's very difficult running when you're large chested.
If this gets removed by Ron, I understand. Just wanted to get some feedback.

I have a niece who did it and she says it's the best thing she ever did for herself.

I had a friend who did it. I don't remember her before size, I just know she had to special order her bras and it hurt to run. She was so happy after.

I know the guys are thinking "don't do it!" but I think it will look and feel much better once they are proportional.

Yeah yeah...I know..."FOR WOMEN ONLY." But I just had to throw in my $0.02. Definitely strongly consider it. My wife really wants to have it done, and probably will. She's researched it pretty extensively and we're pretty convinced it will make her back feel much better, and improve her running. She's a larger C, and is going to go to a smaller B. The bottom line for her is she's not defined by her breast size. It's purely a comfort/quality of life thing.

From my perspective, it's not an issue at all (probably because I'm one of those rare guys that actually prefers smaller breasts).

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm going to research it a little more and determine how and when I want to get it done. It seems I always have a lot of tightness between my shoulder blades and let alon the welts from my bra. Am currently a DD, would like to be a C.
My husband supports my decision 100% as long as insurance covers it.

Take the time to research it. You might be surprised by the complexity of the surgery. Two friends of mine had it done (both going from D to B) before my wife's breast cancer she was considering having it done as well.

Good luck whatever you decide.

I know 2 people who have had it done, and both were suffering back pain from it. One also had some pretty major marks on on her shoulders from her bras. Youch. They were both happy with the result, altho one didn't get as small as she would've liked.  Having it done for medical reasons may have limited how much they could take without it being cosmetic, but I'm not really sure.

Also, if you are considering more children and breastfeeding, a reduction may impact that (but I really don't know- just something to check on).

Good luck with the decision!

I have a friend who had it done.  She was very happy she did it.  She was having back trouble and since the surgery, she's feeling great.

Not had one but just want you to know I 100% support you in this. Body modification is a tough choice and very personal. Make the best choice for you and don't listen to anyone who says something stupid "Wish I had that problem" and the like.

I know a few people who have done this as well - they were all very happy. Especially about the back pain part. My one friend who had it done then had children did have a hard time breastfeeding. She worked very closely with a lactation consultant and was able to breastfeed for a bit, but she couldn't get much milk and had to supplement. It started to get too difficult to nurse, then finish with a bottle so she ended up switching. That is total personal preference though!

I think if all this tri training doesn't help my baby belly shrink I want a tummy tuck when I am done having babies! (did I just say that, I think I am done, but just in case...)

Good luck whatever you decide.

My sister just had a reduction and she is lovin' it. She went from a large D to small B. Her insurance covered it because she lost a lot of weight.

After 2 kids, my weight swung from 135 to about 180. Since I've been running and swimming, I've noticed belly shrinkage. I was considering a tummy tuck if I can't do it on my own. So far, so good.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm all for getting a breast reduction. Currently am pregnant with final child (final child is a known since tubes will be tied and I may require a hysterectomy) and as soon as breastfeeding is over with, I'm going for it (if insurance will help cover). Before babies and this pregnancy I was a D-DD and I soooo want to be a small B.... just much more comfortable - no back pain, no shoulder welts, no rashes under breasts from heat and sweat - boy do the girls cause us problems. I'm with you on this and support you. I watch the medical shows with the breast reductions and also augmentations (which I'm always saying to the TV "no, don't do it" when women go from a B to D) but it's a personal choice and each women has to decide for herself - but I'm all for it.

A side note a friend had a augmentation last year going from B to large C almost D and she is now complaining of all the things we large breasted girls do - back pain, shoulder welts, rashes -she's like why didn't you tell me this beforehand. I tried but until you live with large breasts noone can explain the extent of problems you're faced with. Not sure if she'll have them taken out but she sure is complaining.

Good luck soul searching on this topic and I hope you come to a decision that will make you happy and comfortable.

Haven't had it but know several people who have and all have been happy.  Most insurance will pay if back pain is an issue, but they won't let you stay over night in the hospital so make sure you get GOOOOODDD oral pain meds

One of my old roommates had a reduction. She loved it and she looked great, clothes hung better, etc. When you looked at her after you would think, wow, she just lost 10 pounds, not she just had a reduction. Her BF was against it before, but after even he said she looked great.

I didn't get surgery, but I lost 80 pounds and went from a full C to an empty B.  (I really need an A cup but can't bring myself to buy them.)

I'm honestly in mourning for my breasts.  My husband is, too, although he gamely says that it's worth the trade to have me be a size 12 rather than a size 22, but, c'mon people, breasts are nice on a woman.  I'm glad not to have them annoying me when I run, and I'm glad not to have sweaty lines on my shirts and rashes, etc., but none of my shirts fit right, I can't wear many styles of dresses, all my bras are "wonder bras" with annoying padding (which is hot, and I'm back to being sweaty) and... well... it's not much fun to roll up my boobs and tuck them in.  I can practically use my heart rate monitor strap as a bra.

I'm over 40 now, and breastfed for a grand total of four years... maybe they'd be deflated balloons in any case.  But I'm terribly glad I never thought to have them reduced when I was in my child-bearing years: they'd be concave now!

Both my sister and I have considered it - large breasts run in my family. I used to have serious back pain a few years ago and my doctor told me that if I lost weight my back pain would go away. She was right - I have lost weight (25 pounds or so) but my breasts have only gone from a large DDD to a large D/DD. I have finally found one bra that works (Last Resort Bra from Title 9 Sports) but I know that all three sports would be easier and less painful with smaller breasts. Everyone tells me that they will keep getting smaller as I lose weight but based on the fact that my sister is a D and she is a size 4 - I'm not getting my hopes up. My plan is to lose another 10 pounds (or whatever weight is necessary to change my body fat percentage to the upper teens) and if I still have a D cup size I'm definitely going to consider surgery. Please keep us posted - good luck with the decision!

Sorry, but I have to add my .02 as well.

When I was younger, and couldn't look past the chin of a woman with big breasts--hey, I'm being honest here--there was a woman who went on our group rides that had large breasts. Of course, we guys would all talk about her after the ride, blah, blah, blah.
Well, one day, a guy who is close to her family told us that she had a breast reduction done when she was in high school because all the boys would stare and never look her in the eyes. My first thought was, "Man! She had a reduction and they're still that big?!?!?!" But then my second thought was, "Why did she bother?" Now, whenever I hear of a woman thinking about this I am reminded of her and I always want to say, although I keep my mouth shut because it’s really none of my business,” make sure you take enough away to make a difference," especially since I can now look a woman in the eyes when talking to her.

But, as others have said, best of luck in your decision!

All the best,
Rob

Hope insurance covers it BMAX.

Just think, when you're 60, 'flashing for beads' won't JUST be raising the bottom of your shirt a few inches.  DOH!!!
