Subject: House warming party, what am I missing?
Throwing a house warming party on Saturday afternoon/night. Trying to think of what else I should have.

Currently have-

Beer (lots of it)
Liquor
Burgers
Brats
Potato Salad
Chips and Salsa
Fruit
Pasta Salad

Bean Bag Toss
Washers Game
More Beer

So anything glaring out that I am missing? Feel like I should have more outside lawn games since it is summer and I am guessing many people will be hanging outside

Sounds like it will be a long and fun party.

I always like "second wind food".  If you expect people to be at your party 6-8 hours...then you need a second wave of food.  At this point...people are probably really drunk and will eat anything...so some frozen pizzas (no not that pizza) are always a good back up plan so your guests don't have to eat the same food again.  If they don't end up hanging around that long, you can always just save them for yourself later.

Beer pong table.

For those that may want to stay inside in the A/C: a Wii with party type games like Just Dance or Wii Bowling or any system with Rock Band type games.

Strippers and pizza; yes, that pizza.

What were you thinking?

eta: Unless it is for decoration in exotically named cocktails. After all, some girls might turn up.

Are any of your friends vegetarian?  Might need a non-meat option on the menu.  A couple packs of veggie burgers would be a good addition.  I like the idea of pizzas for later.  As far as yard games, how about bocce?  It's huge up here in MN and seems like everyone plays.  It's a game you can play while holding a beer, which makes it an automatic win.  Sounds like a fun time!

Other beverage options
More healthy food options - cucumber salad, or some other kind of summer salad.
Plenty of bug zapping stuff to keep the pests away.

Can I come?  Sounds like fun.

A group board game is always fun if the party moves indoors.  Since there is booze, Quelf would be fun.

Never underestimate the importance of bags of chips when boozing for a few hours.  And plenty of ice.

Jello shots are always a big hit, in my experience. - you'd have to make them tonight though.

I also concur with the vegetarian options, unless of course you know no one is veggie.
Citronella candles might be nice too.
Maybe round up some koozies? I'm always looking for them at parties and forget to bring my own.

Last time I was at Target they seemed to have a good selection of fairly cheap "yard games" - I like ladder ball myself.

Okay, back from Costco and much lighter in the pocketbook.

Got some cookies, brownie bites, water, lemonade, hummus, and salsa to go along with everything else.

Thanks for the advice.

Oh, anyone have that number for the strippers handy? Wink

That could be interesting if you think about it. Might throw a few people for a loop when a couple of strangers come up and grab a leg each and start pulling Surprised

rowdypaint - 2010-07-30 4:40 AM Are any of your friends vegetarian?  Might need a non-meat option on the menu.  A couple packs of veggie burgers would be a good addition.

As far as yard games, how about bocce?

I was totally going to mention these two things.  Well down rowdy!  As a veg myself, its always nice when the host has a veggie option.  Veggie burgers or hot dogs are cheap and easy to cook.  Just be sure to cook them on a different surface than you cook the animal flesh on!

And bocce rules.  You can buy it cheap at a sporting goods store and you'll use it for years to come.

Doh, I forgot about Bocce. Need to make a run in the morning to the store. I even saw it while getting bean bags and washers and didn't think to grab it. Thanks!
