What are you afraid of that logically doesn't make sense?

I am *terrified* and *horrified* by geckos.

I am quite afraid of heights as well, but seek them out because I enjoy the rush.

I get afraid when I am walking in a stairwell and I hear the steps of someone walking behind me.  Hate that.  My heart starts beating faster and I have to get off that stairwell.

Being buried alive. Gives me the willies just thinking about it. Oh, and ants. When I was growing up, our cabin was infested with carpenter ants and every time we would go, we would have to vacuum up 100s of dead carcasses...did you know that the really big ants crunch when you step on them? Blech!

When doing an OWS where I can't see the bottom I always have a fear of:

1.  Leeches

or even worse,

2.  Zombies eating my face off while it's in the water.

Something about trying a new race distance scares me on race morning.  I can't even name the fear exactly, but something caused me to near breakdown on the morning of my half-iron this summer.  Fear of finishing (not whether I would, but that it would be all over)?  I tried to tell myself I could float in the wet suit, I am more than capable to do the bike and could walk if I had to (bike or run).  But I get totally psycho.  Fortunately I don't foresee a new race distance of any kind coming up.

Driving over big bridges.  I'm OK if someone else is doing the driving, but start to panic if I'm driving.

Long escalators.  Going down is a lot worse than going up, but recently I was on the Woodley Park Metro escalator, in  DC, and my heart was racing just riding up that thing.  On the way back home, we took the elevator instead.
