My Wife want's to wait till the second weekend because she has a hectic schedule around when it comes out.

I'm wondering if I should just go see it without her but not tell her and then go again with her?

Yes, you should. The movie goes by so quickly that you end up missing some cool stuff. So, I vote that you and your 5ft chicken go see it and then you get to enjoy it more with your wife when her schedule is better.

J.K. Rowling also made the announcement today that she is finally going to allow the Harry Potter books in E-format!! Finally!! Can't wait to buy my Kindle versions!

I'm not a Harry Potter fan, and haven't read any of the books, so the only reason I see the movies is because of Alan Rickman. Thanks for the poster. Yummy.

Wait...that's Alan Rickman on the poster? I have to apologize because I am not a Harry Potter fan so I had no idea what this thread was about until I read all the way through it. However, at first glance I thought the picture on the poster looked like a methed-up character being portrayed by Sally Field.

OR...he just played his role exactly as it needed to be played. So little Harry got his feelings hurt. I'm sure he'd rather have hurt feelings and live to name his kid after Snape than be dead.

All along I was certain Snape was bad

The wife and I went to the midnight showing for part one. It was an interesting experience, but I think we'll be waiting until Tuesday. $5 movie night!

We've got part one coming from Netflix to watch and get ready. I had been re-reading the books before the movies, but that actually made the movies kind of suck, especially the Half Blood Prince. Watched independently of remembering everything about the books, the movies are quite good.

I remember reading "The Prince's Tale" (the chapter in book 7 that reveals Snape's true self) to my son and him going, "Wait...WHAT?"

There's one scene in the trailer-- Harry grabbing Voldemort and both of them falling off a tower or something, that I don't remember from the book. Hopefully, they won't take many liberties. I expect they won't.

I saw that too quite a while ago and went, "Oh great..." I hate when they do that crap! Just stick to the book (even if you gotta leave stuff out)!

Even flawed characters can be courageous heroes. That's what I liked so much about how he was written.

Of all the characters, IMO, he took the greatest risks and not for his own profit or skin or vendetta, but for the sake of others. And he did so while being reviled (as opposed to doing so for the good opinions of others).

Oh, yay! Can't wait! I desperately wanted them in e-book so I could take them with me last time I deployed to re-read. Was quite disappointed that they didn't have an e-format. I would love to go see the midnight showing, but I know I'll enjoy the movie more if I'm not in a packed theater with kids kicking my chair. So I will probably try to go within 2 weeks. I'm doing the trans-Tahoe relay the second weekend so that's probably out. But I'll get to it eventually!

I mean, it's not like I don't know what happens. So as much as the midnight showing would be cool, I will try to be patient.
