Garmin 910xt released today

$400 according to the Garmin site.  Or well, $399.99, which makes it seem way cheaper

x2 ..i checked garmin website and they still have it at the usual price, but maybe if we give it time it will drop like the 305 did!

I did the same thing last weekend.  But... consider that it's been what - 2 or 3 years and Garmin is still releasing firmware updates for the 310xt.

I think I'll pass on the 910xt... they'll be ironing out bugs for awhile yet.

Hmmm...it would just be awful for my old 305 to meet with an accident right before the holidays.

The 910 really only offers one compelling feature over the 310 IMHO.  That is the pool swim features.

Still, if I didn't have a 310 already (about to go in for a cracked screen no less) I would probably go straight to the 910 just for that feature.

True.  But at least in my case changing from a huge ugly orange watch to a big black watch is not going to decrease my nerd status in the least... Thus, not compelling enough to upgrade.

Is there any interest in trying a group-buy on this unit?....Perhaps that would depend more on the price that Garmin or a retailer/e-tailer could offer.  I think I'll look into that.  Either way, I need one and I don't think I can wait until Christmas.

My husband just started running.  I think he needs a 305.  I'll be generous and let him have mine.

Looks really nice.  If I didn't already have an edge 500 and 405 for cycling/running, I would definately consider this.

As much as I'd love to buy one and pass down my 305 to my wife, (so we can stop sharing) this may be my best opportunity to solicit sellers of a used 305 so she can have one too.

Man, if our half-marathon didn't cost us over $3k, I'd cough up $400 easily. (Family of 4 at Disney for 5 days, plus races and kids races. It adds up.)

Of course, since it has so much swim analysis I could argue it would be like a one time expense on a coach (which I do need) and maybe she'd be less worried about me in ocean water.

I actually heard they were coming out with an upgrade to the 310 this fall and waited as long as I could to get the 310, then 3 days after my purchase it came out!  I'm not sure if i was waiting to get the latest and greatest gizmo or to see if the price would come down on the 310. Now, do i try to return my 310 or not.....
