I own a weim.  I have met a huge number of other triathletes with weims or weim mixes...it is astounding!

Labs.  They love the water and can keep up on the sprints.

I vote for adding a category for "Other". My Papillon loves to go on short runs with me and is my BEST supporter at all my races. He doesn't care where I finish in the pack and never comments on my performance!

Not having a dog is killing me.

Absolutely.  I grew up with a dog and loved him to death.

Now I live in a townhouse and am dying for a dog, but I would not want to be that cruel to a sporting pet.

Plus, my wife is allergic to dogs and cats.  Although, I have heard really great things about the Labradoodle breeds that are supposed to be hypoallergenic.

I thought the name of this thread was "Official Dog Triathlon" and I could see the run and the swim, but how do you get cleats for a dog? Something is wrong with my brain.

I love my lab/golden mix. She's great for runs, unless she meets a friend and starts pulling me backwards. And she could probably outswim me.

I VOTE FOR MUTT!!!!    Murphy (see avatar) is a German Shorthaired Pointer/Beagle mix....or at least that's what the humane society thought.

Mutts generally have all the problems of purebreds bred out of them and are generally healthier.  Murphy's a GREAT running partner and coach.  So far our longest runs are 3.5 miles.  Think he could go longer but that my limit.

MUTT....MUTT.....MUTT!!!!!

My golden is the best dog I have ever owned. Very loyal, very sensitive, and in many ways is my best freind (don't tell my wife). First one to greet me in the morning, greets me at the door, just plain wants to be by my side. Extremely well behaved. Just one plain old good dog.

My vote isn't on there, but it will surprise you with it's ability to keep up on runs. I vote for the basset hound. I have two that I will run with, but the only problem is that when they are ready to stop they will just flop down and won't move.

Ive got a lab/dalmatian mix and a sheltie mix...both are not on the athletic side but are wonderfully cute and cuddy and enjoy a good post-race nap.
