I know there's an old post about this but I figured I'd start a new one since most people have just started their official training and are starting to gear the mind up for all the things that go into the IM besides just the racing and training...

LIKE WHERE AND HOW LONG YOU'RE STAYING IN FLORIDA!

I personally haven't made any reservations yet. I'm thinking, however, that I'm going to want a condo somewhere for a week... although I may not stay a full 7-days. I haven't decided if I'm driving or flying... it's nice not to have to fly the bike, but driving from Raleigh, NC to PCB, FL might blow. Gotta think that one through a little more. I think I'd like to get down there at the beginning of the week (so in that case maybe I will stay a whole week) and then probably head back home on Sunday.

It would be cool to get a bunch of BT people together for a condo... if possible... but I know people can be very particular about where/how they stay when they're racing. We definitely should do some group meals regardless!

Anyhoo, just wanted to open it up for discussion b/c I'm the kind of person who will forget about it until it's too late and then realize I'm stuck w/ Motel 6 and fast food and nutrition bars. Don't think that's going to cut it for IMFL!

We tried to get a room at the Boardwalk Beach condos while we were there for Gulf Coast but they were already booked for IMFL.   Ouch.  So we got a room at the Boardwalk Beach hotel next door (the race site).   Not as nice of a place to stay, but after staying about 1/2 mile away for Gulf Coast, I would highly recommend staying at Boardwalk for IMFL if you can get a room.  Otherwise, I would ask Boardwalk what hotels are adjacent to them - there are quite a few I just can't remember the names.

We are getting in on Wednesday I believe and checking out on Monday morning so we can stay for the post-race event on Sunday.

I would recommend getting a room or condo soon for IMFL as it seems like they book up pretty far in advance.  I think the girl that made our reservation at Boardwalk sounded surprised that there was a room left there.

I  made reservations at Gulf Crest from Nov. 1st-6th.  I will be arriving that Wednesday and leaving Monday.  Driving from Augusta.

Currently I have a 2 bedroom condo reserved.  My friend and her husband (non BT'er) will be staying with me.  Jon will be joining me as well.  My plans are pretty set so I'll have to pass on the idea.  But I'm in for any type of BT get togethers while I'm there!

I just jumped and reserved something right after I registered just to make sure I had a place to stay.

After staying at the Boardwalk Beach Condos for Gulf Coast I tried to see if they still have condos available- no luck.  So I just stuck with my original condo (Gulf Crest) that I reserved.  It's about a 1/2 mile from the race venue.  That should be good enough.

Debbie, I will be renting a house. I have one in mind, just waiting to hear back from the owner. It sleeps 8 and is a 3 bed/2 bath.  I have me, Aaron, Haley, Chippy, Coredump, and possibly Jeff staying with me. Do you want to join us or is that too many people for yah? I can look for a 4 bedroom instead.

I'm staying with a bunch of family at Gulf Crest Wednesday through Sunday (I've got to fly to Vegas for a tradeshow Sunday - hope I'll actually be able to walk onto the plane!).

Definitely up for meeting some folks from BT while there.

My 2 cents on drive vs. fly with the bike - drive every time if I could - I shipped my bike to a tri for the first time last year and it was definitely a hassle.

If I remember correctly, I get down there on Wednesday and return on Tuesday.  I am staying at Sunbird...a place I have stayed before for smaller races.  These are 1 BR condos on the beach about a 1/4 -1/2 mile from the race site.   I have yet to start looking for a condo for my family.

I reserved mine through www.vrbo.com and found a good price.  Give it a look for that or other condos.

I have rented a house for Gulf Coast right on the beach, but far from race site, plenty of room for a group, quiet, etc... For IMFL, rented condo at Sugar Beach condos, about mile 1 of run course, nice for family and friends to spectate, clean, plenty of room, and a little removed from chaos of host hotel, which is what I prefer. Also, drive down, I have from SC, and I agree it's a crappy drive, but less hassle than packing bike, renting car, unpacking bike, repacking bike,etc... Good Luck!

You're going to be disappointed that you won't be basking in the opulence that is the BBR HoJo.

Hey folks, I am wanting to come to jockstrap for you all (have a friend from church racing too) and am even signing up to volunteer in the morning so would love to join a large crowd in a condo if it is possible. I am even a great cook and can do pasta for you all the day before the race since I won't be the one racing!

I would love to come jockstrap at IMFL.  I would need a place to stay.  Since Renee has already volunteered to do the cooking, I guess I can volunteer my medical services!!!!  Plus Renee wants to stunt (cheerleading stuff) with me.  You can watch me drop her on her head throw her up in the air and catch her.

If you are interested in or have a place for me to stay, PM me, because I always seem to lose this thread.  Good luck all.
