6 teams still undefeated.  3-4 of them have a good chance to stay that way.

So then what?

4 will be undefeated at seasons end.

2 of the 4 teams (and fans) will be pizzed off and claim that they're better than the other 2 and they should be playing in the BCS Championship game.

And the sick cycle continues until 2014

And OU still sucks....

Is that the 63-21 OU? Secretly I'm hoping all of them teams remain undefeated and we have one final nail in the coffin of the BCS. I also hope my Bronco's don't make a BCS game this year. They aren't that good. It would also be somewhat ironic that this year's not so great team makes it to a BCS game and the previous 2 years teams, which were far better, didn't get a sniff.

Don't worry my family comes from OU country. They all love to hear me talk about BSU's record vs OU. They also loved when we sent them USC T-shirts for xmas in 2004.

Not as much as UT.

You know why Oklahoma is so windy?

True fact - The toothbrush was invented at OU. Becuase if it was invented anywhere else, it'd be called a teethbrush.

Boo-yah!

LOL!

To go back to the OP, and incorporate yours, would that be the final straw that broke the camel's back to move to a true playoff?  How many teams would that be?  3 undefeated?  4?  5?  Would would it take?

I'd say 4 undefeated teams....because then you have the argument of it all. With 3, you can "justify" why the outlier wasn't chosen.....

I don't see 4 teams going undefeated.  Schedules just look too tough.  Certainly possible though, but I wouldn't bet on it.

That said...I've come to accept college football for what it is.  It's all about money.  They have no interest in crowning a true national champion.  They never were.  The fact is, there is no such thing as a NCAA college football national championship for division I.  Why not...because having 30+ bowl games makes more money than a playoff system like college basketball, baseball, or any other NCAA sport that has a true national championship.

The BCS system now is not meant to be perfect.  It's meant to make money.  It does a good job of that, and it's still a better way to crown a "pretend" national champion than before we had the BCS.  The 4 team playoff in the future will be better...but bottom line is that it's still about money...and it's still not a real national championship.

Why did the Sooner cross the road?

Because he couldn't cross the goalline.  Go Irish.

I think the best thing that could happen to get a playoff is for the top 4 teams to all rack up one loss, and we end up with another national championship game between two SEC teams.  Especially if the game sucks as bad as last year's did.

None of this matters.

Let's focus on the Rose Bowl.

Rally sons of Notre Dame:
Sing her glory and sound her fame,
Raise her Gold and Blue
And cheer with voices true:
Rah, rah, for Notre Dame
We will fight in ev-ry game,
Strong of heart and true to her name
We will ne'er forget her
And will cheer her ever
Loyal to Notre Dame

Cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame,
Wake up the echoes cheering her name,
Send a volley cheer on high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky.
What though the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over all,
While her loyal sons are marching
Onward to victory.

You already lost to a middle of the road pac-12 team once, why do you want a beat down again?

For the record, ND is my second team.  Always has been.  Went to a Catholic HS and we were the Fighting Irish.  We had the same touchdown fight song just with different lyrics.

That being said, would love to see them win out.

I think it is going to be Oregon who gets hosed this year.  I truly believe they are one of the two best teams in the Nation right now.  I would really love to see their speed offense against Nick Saban's hair helmet defense.

But I don't think its going to work.

I'm a big fan of the Ducks.  But the only way anyone wins an NC who is not in the SEC is that the SEC teams all have 2 losses and can't play in the NC game.

Alabama could beat 3 or 4 NFL teams right now.

No way. The Jags would beat them easy. If there are 2 of ND/Oregon/KSU and a 1 loss SEC team, the SEC team will be left out.

I dunno -- I think Kansas State is the iffy unbeaten team right now.

Nobody's convinced they're for real.

I respectfully disagree.  A 1-loss Alabama team would be in over unbeaten Oregon or unbeaten KSU (which probably won't happen because they have to play in the Big 12 champs and someone will beat them there).

Every time this subject comes up I feel I need to remind everyone that it is very hard to dispute that the best team in college football has been crowned National Champion. Alabama this year, Auburn in 2011, Alabama in 2010, Florida in 2009, LSU in 2008, Florida in 2007 and so on.

Why will a 4 team playoff be better? Fans of teams 5 and 6 will flood their message boards and talk radio with "we got screwed". I know I am in the minority, but leave the system alone. Every year it works itself out and will again this year when Alabama plays Oregon for the NC.

No way a 1-loss team gets in if Oregon or KSU go unbeaten.

If ND, Oregon and KSU all go unbeaten, I would think that KSU is left out.

I don't think so, but only if that 1 loss is this week against LSU. If it is in the SEC championship game there is no way they play for the NC.
