2013 NYC Tri: Roll Call

Will you be bringing the tiger? Still one of my all-time favorite, “did I just see what I thought I saw?” moments from watching any race.
I’m in again this year (First year in my new age group. Yay.) and I’ll be volunteering as usual again.

This will be my 4th time racing and 6th time volunteering.

I would be faster if I wasn't dragging my aid station along behind me.

I'm in as well.  It will be my first Olympic distance race and likely my second race in the past few years.

If you volunteer as a "Volunteer Team Leader" , which, depending on the assignment, doesn't have to be a lot more work than being a regular volunteer, you not only get a guaranteed entry in 2014, but it's free. This will be my fourth time racing and I've never had to pay for it.

They've had the technology the firtst time I raced in 2009, but not the last couple of times in 2012 and 2010. I think it depends on whether they can get a sponsor to pony up the money and the technology.

Athlete Guide is up

Ugh. I aged up into a new AG and now I'm in the dreaded red transition. Transition closes at 5:40am and my wave doesn't start until 7:05 at the earliest.

On the plus side, I have the short run from swim exit.

And no backpacks in transition this year. Boo! I don't get the "no backpacks at races" thing. The terrorists at the Boston Marathon were spectators, not participants. Unless they're planning to ban backpacks among spectators, I don't get how this does anything but inconvenience the athletes.

I'm in! Thought it sounded like a fun location, and was lucky in the lottery. Coming down from Boston for this one.

I'm in the 'red' transition as well, and I think I go in the water about noon time.

How are logistics for this? Major PIA picking up bike after the race? Crowds good?
