I tend to agree with Emmitt.  While I hate to see head injuries this is going to leave the ball carriers defenseless against the safeties flying in for hits.

2018.....all players will be required to sit out every other play. If they are involved in a tackle (tackler or the tackled) they must sit out 3 plays.

Lineman must also keep their hands behind their backs at all times and D-line must count to 5-Mississippi before rushing.

He'd dominate in sumo. He's as big as they are but he's actually got more muscle in his legs. Sumo is ceremonial far more than actual skill/strength.

So believe it or not, it's possible to lower your pad level without leading with the head.

I disagree with the presumption that it's the same thing. Defensive players aren't going to be caught off-guard by a running back with the ball driving their helmet into their ear hole.

If he's carrying the ball, he's the #1 target on the field and should be able to protect himself even if it means laying the lumber on the defensive player trying to kill him.

I've been on both sides of those hits. They're nothing compared to a hit on a defenseless player.
