No idea, as I have never spent a moment considering or preparing for such an unlikely event.

Rally up some people with the same values as my family so that we could work together and pool resources.  Anarchy has a hard time against organization, it always has.

Really?  No preparations at all?  FEMA suggests that everyone have 3 days of food and water stored at all times for emergencies.  1 day of water is at a minimum 1 gallon/person.

Live through a couple of hurricanes and you may change your stance on prepping.

We have reserve water and food and I keep a "get home bag" in my car.

That bag has been used so often it has paid for itself 100 times over.  Seems I'm always at places, picnics, softball games, beach days, just normal days and someone says: "does anybody have 'X'?"

And inevitably I have "X" in my get home bag. (rope, first aid kit, knife, hatchet, tape...)

I cannot TELL you how many times I've needed a hatchet at a picnic.

To the OP: drink heavily.

Neither did the people of LA in '92, NO in '05, FL in '91, OH in '02 so they found out the hard way it's better to be prepared for general society break down.

But enjoy your idealistic setting while it lasts, grasshopper.

I own a few acres in the hills of TN. Guess I'm going home for a bit. It takes about an hour to get anywhere that has over 10,000 people from there so I'll be okay for a while

Got some friends who will drop everything and come along for the adventure as well.

All together, we could probably arm a small country so it's not going to be a starve fest of any sort.

The hatchet goes with the viking helmet, tutu and light coat of oil. Right beside the handcuffs.

Actually, I'd call a couple of the girls I dumped last year and tell them I'm ready for that relationship they wanted.

On a side note - aside from portability - why stock a few gallons of bottled water when you have 40-50 gallons waiting for you in your water heater?  Just isolate upon emergency situation, and drain into a jug as needed.

We are basically the same.....we own the family homestead in Nebraska.  We'd head there.  We don't stockpile much of anything....a half dozen cases of water, a couple cases of canned goods, about 10 cases of ammo of various calibers, blah, blah, blah.  We used to camp  quite a bit so our gear us already in one place.  I've got a few friends who'd bring their  families as well...and yeah, we'd be ALOT better armed than anything that anarchy could muster up, and much better trained.

A big plus......if there was no need to worry about hunting seasons we'd eat good for sure.

Head to my wifes parents property up in the mountains, wooded, has a river that runs through it with several types of fish we can catch eat, a large lake nearby, and hardly anyone around. We do not currently own any weapons but I do know how to set snares and dead traps for small and medium game and the rest of my wifes family all owns various types of guns and they would probably be there as well.

If that was not an option, I could ride it out at my house on the supplies we have stored and our houses location for a couple of weeks at least.

Is that your MO?  Bring up a good point and then follow it with an insult to who you are responding to?  I'm curious why you often do that.  You offer compelling information then offend them which probably results in a shut down of them even considering your point and turns it into a defensive situation.

You have done that to me on many occasions.  Given me some food for thought and maybe change my thoughts on some issues, then call names or offend in the same thread.

It's a weird concept to share information then basically call someone idealistic or naive or imply they are a moron for not knowing.

I'm glad teachers don't do that.  "Ok Billy, you don't want to start a sentence with a preposition, but go ahead and live in  your sheltered world with your blinders on"

I will make sure to go to Cord or Daniel and make sure I join their army. Since I speak Spanish, and the Hispanic population of this country is growing (and thus the Zombie population make-up), a person that can translate spanish grunts will always be useful.

Load up the wife and dog in the truck and head for the hills.

If I hadn't lost all my guns in that unfortunate canoe accident last month I would take them and plunder what I needed for supplies.
