Resident Curmudgeon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Are you saying you've seen it? I'd The kids would like to as well, but there aren't many movies with "3" in the title that live up to their predecessors... |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yes. It debuted here May 1. I thought it was the best of the 3. Perfect mix of plot, action, and Robert Downy humor. I liked it the best of the three... Edited by gr33n 2013-05-03 6:59 AM |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just as a reference, what did you think of 1 and 2? The first one I loved instantly. I think that has something to do just with the fact they made a quality movie out of it and Favreau had his hand in it which is another plus for me. The second one I didn't care for right away. I remember leaving the theater not being super impressed but lately with it being on cable so much I've warmed up to it and actually really enjoy it. I don't have that big of expectations for 3 but that's because I wasn't psyched on The Avengers, but I've only seen that once so I need to give it another shot. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Same. I thought 1 was pretty decent. 2 I was somewhat disappointed in. I didn't think it had the balance that 3 has. So that plus maybe expectations were not super high going into 3. I don't want to build it up too much but I thought 3 was the best of the bunch. |

Sensei ![]() | ![]() gr33n - 2013-05-03 4:40 AM Yes. Possibly one of the coolest movies in very long time. Maybe ever. Giggity... The Ironman series is already on of my favorites and I have been looking forward to IM3 ever since I saw the trailer last year. I planed a date night with the wife tomorrow to see it. Can't wait. I had an option to see it today with some coworkers - I COULD take them up on it and see it again tomorrow. I assume it's good enough to see twice! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I thought it was pretty sweet. Sadly Ironman doesn't have any really strong "bad guys" (I mean... The Dude and the Wrestler so far...) but RDJ does a lot for the character. It was definitely worth watching, better than #2 for sure.
Also, the new minute and a half "Man of Steel" trailer is better than anything that's had Superman's name on it in the last century. |

Yes we did and I also caught Lee's cameo as the host of the beauty pageant. Really a great movie. By the way, I think those were the longest credits ever. Edited by Iowaman 2013-05-04 12:54 PM |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My son saw it in imax a few days ago and raved about it. The movies I really want to see this year though, are the next Star Trek and Ender's Game. EG is my all time favorite novel. I've read it more times than I can count plus each of the sequels a few times. |

![]() | ![]() Leegoocrap - 2013-05-04 12:18 AM I didn't see a Man of Steel preview at mine. I thought it was strange how it jumped to the movie pretty quickly. I thought it was pretty sweet. Also, the new minute and a half "Man of Steel" trailer is better than anything that's had Superman's name on it in the last century. It was very good, but they overused CGI and the flying suit parts. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SPOILER ALERT I agree that Iron Man 2 grew on me after I watched it a few times. I like the addition of Shield/Black Widow as an antagonist to Tony, I thought Mickey Rorke was bizarre and over the top, which was ok with me. And I thought the "big reveal" at the end was cool. I liked 3 as well. (If you saw it, you probably noticed that Yinsen, the guy in the cave who helps Tony when he's first captured in IM 1, says hello to him at the party in Bern at the beginning. I happened to see a few minutes of IM 1 last night and when Tony first comes to and meets Yinsen, Yinsen says to him, "We met once-- at a conference in Bern, Switzerland".) As someone else noted, as good as the movies are, Iron Man struggles as a franchise because unlike Spider Man, or the Fantastic Four or Batman, Ironman doesn't really have a marquee villain nemesis-- no Dr. Doom or Joker. |

Actually, he had "The Mandarin" because they were showing old cartoons in the theater I went to before the movie of Ironman vs the Mandarin. I thought the continuity was good too with Yinsen and the link to the Avengers. I'm still not sure how The Avengers don't come help when one of them is in trouble. |

In retrospect, they probably should have had some throwaway comment that explained why a supervillain blew up his mansion and Air Force One, tried to kill the president, and committed terrorist acts all over the country and neither Shield nor any of the other Avengers got involved. You'd think Captain America would have been all over that one. I dunno-- I read comic books all throughout my childhood, and the Mandarin was sort of a B-lister. Definitely not on the order of Magneto or Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, etc. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I liked the movie but..... (highlight for spoiler): I really hated what they did with the Mandarin. I think the twist was neat and all, but completely unnecessary. Kingsley's Mandarin was shaping to be a great villain, and they reduced him to a Borat-like character. Killian could have done everything the same, without ruining one of Ironman's bigger villains. /rant Edited by msteiner 2013-05-06 5:14 AM |
