Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I *think* you will find somewhat general consensus that Michelin Pro are great for racing but wear a bit more and are a bit more puncture-prone than Conti Gatorskins. But Gatorskins are slow, so the GP4000's are a fairly common compromise. |

Conversely, the Pro 3's are still readily available and have one theme and one theme only.....racing... I'm a big fan of Pro3's for racing however training they just don't last... I'm trying to determine whether I try Vredestein Fortezza's for racing and maybe a little training based on my Pro 3 experiences... |

Interesting myth/rumor that the S stands for schwartza in German which I knew the word, not the intent in GP 4000S.... In your opinion is there validity that the S version actually has a compound unique from the 4000's with color options? Or perhaps my reading comprehension isn't picking up sarcasm from the article's writer... So now I'm wondering if I take a stab at the GP 4000 color options or wait until the GP 4000S II are available???

![]() ![]() | ![]() i picked up the 4000s from some site coming out of the UK, forgot which one and i love them. I never had the luck with the pro race 3, flatted quite a few times. so far so good. i picked up the pair for about 55$ where at the lbs they are 75$ a piece!! I am all about shopping local, but im sorry with that much of a price difference i will wait 4 weeks for shipping anyday! |

Great store and usually some pretty amazing deals. But you can't order from them if you're in a rush... shipping can take a few days or a few weeks, just never know (I've received stuff I ordered on a Thursday the following Monday, that was to NJ) and I've received it in 3 weeks (that was in NH). Also, you get subjected to customs charges as well. Seems to happen only when you place an larger order (I had an order for well over $1000 and got slapped with customs...) Back to tire question... you guessed it, Conti GP4000S. Although if you go tubeless, Hutchinson Fusion 3's are pretty amazing as well... |

I'm 220, pretty much muscle (power lifter for many years, still lift for overall health) so 10 pounds is about the max I could take off... Do you recommend the 25MM for comfort or durability (or both)? I've never had anyone suggest a bigger sized tire before so I'm interested to hear more.. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I run 23mm and am 181lbs I used Michilin Pro Service 3 and they were great and gave me a very good feeling when cornering since they were so soft but the wear was fast I use Gatorskins now and like them too. They are a bit heavier feeling but the confidence of not changing a flat everytime you hit a pebble is good. |
