Couldn't see that anyone else has started a thread for this race for 2014. If you sign up today you can get the $80 registration fee. I believe it goes up to $100 after the 1st. I just registered. Anyone else plan on racing here this coming season? Lets use this thread to chat about training, learn from those who have experienced the course, talk about accommodations, etc. Looking forward to doing this race for the first time in 2014 and sort of hoping for a better finish time than I had at Racine 70.3 last season.

Giving this one a "bump" as I am now officially registered and so is my training buddy! We are about 1/3 through our Olympic Training program. Using Matt Fitzgerald's book! Anyone else want in on the action?

I'm signed up and Chisago will be my first ever HIM.

Before this gets rolling, I know past threads for this race have been in the Minnesota section.  Should we move this over there?  Or if not there, maybe the Iron Distance Race Groups section?

i think it's really weird this landed in the Tri Talk forum.  I would contact one of the Moderators of this forum and ask them to move it to Minnesota.  Or, just start a new thread there.

I am running Boston in April and Ironman Lake Placid is in July. I have been told that it is ambitious to think about doing an IM so close to a marathon due to the recovery time. Any suggestions?

I was not an official; I simply observed the race and the officials doing their thing. Here is what I saw:

I just had a couple of problems, I could count the number of triathlons I had contested at zero. Secondly, I could count on one hand the number of times I had been swimming in the last 17 years.

This half Ironman plan covers many weeks of challenging, but attainable training for someone who has some endurance experience, and ideally some Olympic distance races within the past season.
