Subject: Savageman 70.0 : Official Thread

I got my brick and finished this race. It was the hardest thing that I have ever done, including a 140.6. This year, I am going there to race and cut 1 hour off my 2013 time.

That is awesome,congrats! I want to do that race someday, and I want that brick too! How on earth did you train for a 31% climb? Or can you?

Training for the wall:

1) Lots of hill work

2) Stupidity

3) Bike handling skills - I grew up on BMX bikes

Find a really steep gravel or dirt road.  Practice climbing up it without putting your foot down.  Your wheels will skip around a lot, but don't put your footdown.

It is only 50 yards or so.  Then you have to climb Savage Mtn.
