This thread may not get legs, but worth a shot...

I was driving to work this morning and saw a funeral procession (everyone with headlights on).  Maybe it's regional, but I remember as a kid, seeing them quite often.  Now?  Twice in the last 12 years?  Made me think, "haven't seen that in a while".

You got anything?  Flip phones or fax machines count?  I still see them often enough.

Pay phone.

Was on my way up north and there was one in a rest area.  Had a little chuckle.

The skeletal remains of pay phones are all too common. Either the empty booth or the bolt holes in the ground where it used to be mounted.

Drive-in theaters. They were never that many in Minnesota to begin with due to weather, but I think the very last one in the whole Twin Cities metro area closed shop last summer.

We have one here! Granted the weather is great year-round. Adventurous kids sometimes watch movies from the graveyard near the theater.

We have funeral processions here all the time.  People pull over to the side of the road (both directions) while it passes.

.

We have an application at work that still relies on a floppy drive.  It's a critical financial app too....

Beijing has a plethora of pay phones, as well as a drive-in movie theater!

Out here in Colorado there are not any Full Service Gas Stations. I was surprised when I went to fill up my rental in NY last year and an attendant came out to pump gas.

We have funeral processions here, people pull over on the side of the road too. The other day I was going through some old equipment at my shop and I found a 5.25 floppy disk drive with a box of random 5.25 disks. The cable to the pc was a parallel port. I need to find something with a parallel port so I can see if it works.

I still see fireflies, but the last horny toad I saw in the wild was in about 1982.

When I visited Portland, Oregon for the first time I was surprised to find out that *all* of the gas stations are full service. The attendant nearly ran up when I got out of my rental car and walked up to the pump. Fortunately the gas station was near the airport so he was used to travelers not being used to it.

Yes, I recall that on OR, you couldn't pump your own gas. They had to do it for you. I wonder if other states have that law.

I'm not sure if it is still that way in New Jersey, but it was Full Service there a while back.

I just dumped a box of punch cards and fanfold computer paper from my master's thesis.  I bet I have some rolls of punch paper tape around too.

Green Bar paper. We talk about it, but it has been quite some time since I've seen any. It used to come out of the dot matrix printer. How old do I feel now?

I used to plot my simulation results as printer plots on fan fold green bar paper.  I waited in line at the output desk for a stack a 1/2 inch thick.  If it was more I screwed up.  If it was one sheet, I screwed up.  I got three boxes of paper once.  Soooooo embarrassing.

This is more of a "how much longer", but we got a yellow pages delivered to the house a few weeks ago.

I cannot remember the last time I had to flip through either a yellow pages or a phone book.

I cleaned out our training room at work a few months ago, and threw away about 300 BETA tapes and the old player.
It still worked.

I packed up my old closet in my mother's house when she was moving out last October and threw out about fifty 8-Track Tapes. The only 8-Track player that I ever had was in my 1980 Firebird that I traded in 1984. I still remember the "CLICK" that happened when it changed tracks, sometimes right in the middle of a song.
