Both have the other's cell on it... figure if the EMT's find me in a ditch, and call his cell, they'll locate him in the ditch next to me...... or at least one of us will speak for the other..... But never run/bike without them. DH even swims with his sometimes. |

If you need blood, but not ASAP, they'll have time to type it, and the blood bank will not release it without being typed. But of course, if you do have room on the tag and don't have to fit in a list of meds/allergies, then by all means include it. I won a gift cert at a race, and got a 10% discount from an Activa ad, so look around. Maybe there is a BT discount? You type in your coupon code at checkout online. |

I'm O-Neg. If I'm going to need blood at any point, I want to give them advance notice so they can have my special order in the chute! Plus there was plenty of room on the tag anyway.

FYI - don't know about the dog tag vending machine but my dog's tags from those machines are cheapo and I have to replace them annually. However, you can stop in at your local Army/Navy store and have a burn the authentic ones for you, just be sure to ask for stainless steel chain! |

It is a piece of mind knowing that if something should happen to me at least they contact someone faster. I saw a guy wearing one at the gym and thought it was even a good idea there in case one were to keel over. |

Being diabetic, I like having something that spells it out. I wear my Medic Alert bracelet at all times (can't seem to get the fecker off anyways- they adult proofed it), but having the Road ID is nice as well. I just have my Name, where I live, home phone, dad's cell phone, then NKA- Diabetic T1, and then Insulin Pump. I wore it a lot when I was abroad, simply because no one knew about my condition and I was traveling alone most of the time. Sometimes I wore it, othertimes I had it clipped to my treking pack. |

Also take every opportunity to let your emerg services friends know that you wear it and remind them to check victims for ID. They will tend to look for aller/meds bracelets but not necessarily dog tags on a chain or laced in a running shoe.I wear the dog tag style on a neck chain all the time.
