Subject: RE: ROAD IDArtemis - 2006-11-16 8:53 AM Can any docs give advice as to what to put on the RoadID for medical conditions? We've covered blood type not being an issue. I was planning on putting NKDA, and asthma on there. But, I have a huge list of allergies, the biggest being anaphylaxis to almonds. Worth putting on there?
NKDA and asthma would be great things to know if you were my patient. If you had a severe asthma attack and weren't breathing (ie not moving any air so that I could hear breath sounds) knowing you had asthma would be helpful. Sure there are other ways to figure it out but why make us do the work! Tom's right, the nut allergy wouldn't really matter in that situation. I also agree with others about blood type, there's no need to add it. Everyone will get O blood in the ER even if your thing says Type A. The reason is a liability issue and many hospitals (in CA anyway) wouldn't trust that band. They will always type you if you need blood, it only takes about 20-30 mins tops and you'll be getting O in the mean time. Dave, EMT-P |
