Deep in the Heart of Texas | Subject: March Madness - 2015 Tournament time again. Once I filled out my bracket on ESPN, I noticed the BT group from last year is still alive. I joined and now there is a grand total of one participant. Since gr33n hasn't been around in a while, I thought I would post a link and seek participants. http://games.espn.go.com/tournament-challenge-bracket/2015/en/group?groupID=506457 Click on join group. Group name and password is HTFU. |

Did those two deserve #3 seeds, likely not, but they were definitely NOT an over rated conference. They beat the crap out of each other every week. |

Yeah, the boneheads like to discredit an entire season based on a game or two......weird. On another note....UCLA and Ohio State have saved me from a complete meltdown. |

Had them going to the final four so my bracket isn't looking so good in the east. Edited to say: I guess that goes for just about everyone in the HTFU group! Edited by k9car363 2015-03-21 9:12 PM |

Villanova just adds to the destruction of my bracket. Next year I may use the "Mascot with the biggest head" selection method. Anything has to work better than what I did this year. |

Yeah, I still have three of my final four.....but only one of my final two. I guess I'm rooting for UK along with the guy with the stupid tattoo (although I think I'd rather see UK lose and that guy be stuck with nonsensical ink). |

Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: March Madness - 2015 Day One and my brackets resembled Sherman's March to the Sea. Except for the East, where I held strong at 8 for 8. Until day 3 and Nova decided that they were done. Virginia decided to join them on the bus ride home and my East was effectively put out of it's misery as well. My wife has me beat by 6 games at this point, which wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't sitting on the couch with her explaining rules. Her education was complete when she figured out that basketball minutes at the end of a game are endless. Her - "Why are they fouling them?" Me - "To stop the clock and get the ball back." Her - "That's Stupid" I can't argue with that logic, can I? Not when I'm the guy holding a dead bracket.

Fortunately for me, my wife would rather have a root canal than follow March Madness so I didn't have to deal with your situation. However, if I were in your shoes and my wife was spanking me by 6 games, I would have to point out to her, in a feeble effort to retain my manhood, that I picked my bracket the way I did because I didn't want a stellar bracket performance to overshadow us enjoying March Madness together! Yeah, that would be my story and I would stick to it! My daughter-in-law picked her bracket last year by doing extensive research and using the extremely scientific method of comparing mascots and deciding which color she liked better. She won the bracket challenge at the hospital she works at . . . go figure. |

My daughter-in-law picked her bracket last year by doing extensive research and using the extremely scientific method of comparing mascots and deciding which color she liked better. She won the bracket challenge at the hospital she works at . . . go figure. A couple of years ago, in her first ever bracket challenge, she came in second with her one entry. Since then she has become possessed, doing research, checking stats, watching "experts", etc. She hasn't done nearly as well as that first time. It has become more fun every year, just because we both see the ridiculousness of the whole thing. We are in the process of developing a method much like your DIL for next year. I may borrow a friend's goat and paint team names on old soda cans. First can eaten is chosen as my winner. I can't do worse than I've done this year. I kind of like the mascot head size to determine winners, but then Texas or Ohio State always wins and I can't do that. I really have no dog in this fight, so any "selection" ideas anyone wants to contribute will be considered. |

I really have no dog in this fight, so any "selection" ideas anyone wants to contribute will be considered. You know, you may be on to something there! The goat could pick the champion. Of course you would still need a way to pick the games leading up to the championship game. How about this, you could put a bit of puppy chow into all the cans, then pair them up into the "games." Turn a puppy loose to check them out. The first can the puppy goes to wins the game. You could do that for the entire bracket! That is certainly a more scientific method then which mascot color you like more! I am like you, I don't have a dog in the hunt. I would normally be pulling for UCLA or Indiana but UCLA wasn't even supposed to be in the tournament and Indiana is but a shell of their former selves. Oh well, been a good tournament in any case - it was the best day one I can recall in a very long time. |
