Subject: RE: 5.8.17 Monday Morning!I surprised myself on my bike ride this morning.  I have a 30 km route that I did in the mornings.  Last fall after doing a Bike focused training plan for 3 months I was hit average paces between 20.3 MPH and 20.8 MPH.  I was trying to break 21.0 MPH but never was able to do it.  over the winter I have been seeing my pace fall. I have been pushing harder and harder and see slower and slow times 919.6-20.1).     This morning I desired to pace myself like I did in my 5K race on Saturday.  My watch read my first 5 minute split at 19.7 MpH, then I got a 20.1, then a 20.0, then another 20.1, then with just over 2 miles to go I hit a 21.1.  Hmm??? that can't be right.  Well stay about 21 MPH for the next two miles and and find out.  So I pushed it really hard for the last two miles keeping over 21 MPH the who way.  The final average was 21.3 MPH.   I was pretty happy with that.  My 1 mile brick off the bike started with jello legs.  IT was the first time I had felt jello legs in about 10 years.  I knew I had a good bike ride.  The run was fine too.  It only took about 1/3 mile to get my feel under me.  It was only a 30 km ride after all.  :-)    .        |
