The previews give the impression that this movie is more along the lines of the first one.  Of course the previews could be the best parts of the movie and the rest sucks.

From the movie SPACEBALLS: "And now for a preview of Rocky FIVE.....THOUSAND."

Just think, after this, another Rambo movie.  Rambo, The Geriatric Warrior.

Although Sly is still in great shape.

I refuse to acknowledge any Rocky movies after IV. Rocky V never existed and Rocky Balboa needs to be marketed as "A bad dream Rocky had one day a few years after knocking out Drago".

I never even saw V all the way through, it was so bad.  But I'll bet a lot of people are too young to remember how good Rocky was.  I'll bet a lot of people who didn't know this will find it hard to believe.

1977 Academy Awards:  Rocky

Won:  Best Director
          Best Film Editing
          Best Picture

Nominated:  Best Actor (Stallone)
                    Best Supporting Actor
Best Supporting Actor (yes, both of them)
                    Best Actress
                    Best Music, Original Song
                    Best Sound
                    Best Writing, Screenplay (Stallone again)

Stallone joined an elite crowd being the third person ever nominated for acting and writing in the same year.  Others were Charles Chaplin and Orson Welles.

Yes, I think Stallone has become a charicature of himself and this new movie probably sucks but there's a reason that the Rocky phenomenon was as big as it was.  It started out as a really good movie.

I loved "Rocky" when it came out in '77.  I always cheer for the underdog, being a big old mutt myself.  We all need heroes to come along and allow us to dream that we can beat the unbeatable!  All the other "Rockies" were just immitations of the original, each succeeding one paler than the previous installment.  Still, I liked them all anyways.  I will wait until "Rocky Balboa" comes out on dvd to watch it though because I just hate theatres these days.

We have a dollar theater.  I'll wait till it gets there.  Should be about 3 weeks after its release.

It's being booed and mercilessly laughed at during the trailer and one place I read said it is in early competition for the worst film ever produced.

Probably in competition with several other Stallone movies.  And Cabin Boy.

Yeah, what he said.

I actually have never seen all of V either because it was so awful. But I've seen I-IV an embarassing number of times. The original is far and away the best one. I was only 4 when it was released, so obviously I didn't see it in the theater, but I still loved it when I came across it on tv one day when I was in middle school. I just hope this one is at least decent so that the franchise can redeem itself somewhat.

I tend to like Rocky IV a little more than the original...maybe it's the whole training in Siberia montage, but man that movie gets me pumped up.....

To think just that short a time ago, Russia was the Soviet Union, and it was almost evil to think of visiting there.

Well if you did LV marathon last year and stayed until tuesday night you could have been in the movie as an extra. I really wanted to because I love the rocky series. When I was a kid I thought rocky 4 was awesome but I do not like it so much now. Maybe because the ending was super cheesey, and the fact that draco was made into this super human boxing monster that no man could ever stop and yet somehow he never fought professionally after the rocky fight. He should have been world champ since rocky quit fighting.

I liked Rocky V actually alot better than rocky iv. What is not to like? People lose all there money all of the time espically if you leave the country for an extended period of time by a con artist. He has to then train fighters.

I am excited about seeing this movie. Maybe its cheesy but if you let your mind go and not think about how illogical it seems it may actually be good.

Every Stallone movie except for Rambo and Rocky 1 have been absolutely awful.  All of his movies are formulated, hokey, and predictable with Driven and Cliffhanger as notable examples.  Give it up, Sly, you're only hurting your legacy.
