Pro  3870      Virginia Beach, VA |  Subject: Ironman FloridaIt's too soon to be focused on training for IMFL but it isn't too soon to figure out your lodging for the week. But from what I could find the prices for condos vary from $100-ish all the way up to $300 per night. I figure that the family is going to visit my father-in-law for a few days a probably do the Disney thing and then drive up for the days before the race. Gonna be an expensive week .... ;-P |

Master 2005 South Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida I booked something or another at the Grandview (2 bdrm I think) a few weeks ago in a panic...it's not cheap, but not awful..it looks nice, and has a room for the kids, so I don't have to tiptoe around them when I'm trying to get ready in the morning. I think it's on the bike course. |

That Sunday I booked a 4 night condo at 175/night at Gulf Crest Condo's. We are excited about the place and have others booking at the same place.. If you want pictures just send me you email..  |

Pro 3870 Virginia Beach, VA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida I think I'm going to make a reservation for a 3bd/3bth condo at the Shores of Panama . It's a brand new place opening this spring and is 5 blocks from the start right on the beach. It's got all the amenities and the floor plans look nice. Price is reasonable averaging out to $221/night (plus tax). There are 3 bedrooms so I'd be interested in finding 2 others (or possibly one single and a couple) to go in on it with me. with 3 of us it would work out to $75/night each ($55/night with 4). That's hard to beat for a brand new condo on the beach (and also on the bike course) and practically at the start/finish...no driving required all week. Anyone interested?

I just didn't want to be out a deposit if I didn't get any folks to go in on it with me. A 3 bedroom unit for Oct 30-Nov 4 (Tue-Sun) would be $1246 total, that's including tax. That ends up being $415 per person or $83 per night per person. A 2 bedroom with extra bunk would be even cheaper but I'm inclined to go with the 3 bedroom and a bit extra space. |

Great prices and it is nice to be in a condo with a kitchen! Let me know if anyone has any questions. I stayed at the sunbird from wed-mon, for around $350. It was a great place and close enough to the boardwalk so I could walk (15 min at most) to the venue and relax by myself. I suggest booking a place now. You will have too much to worry about when training starts to pick up in may! |

Sunbird - Fairly cheap, 5 minute walk. Older condos but decently maintained. Moonraker - Similiar to the Sunbird, older and the quality varies greatly from room to room. Boardwalk Beach Condos - Primo deluxe and on site. Bad news I am sure its full already. Some folks got rooms late on cancellations so you could try for the waiting list. Majestic Beach - New and Shiny, about 1.4 miles from the start. Not as nice as boardwalk but nicer than the other two. |

I figure the $$$ I save by not checking my dance on the plane, plus the stress saved by knowing it isn't being tossed around by a bunch of gorillas is well worth some miles in the car. Plus, I can bring as much gear and crap as I want...and I won't need a rental car to get around. |

I took my bike to Iceland this past summer, and the airlines "misplaced" it for a day, therefore my trip was delayed a day. I would FREAK if my bike was "misplaced" for IMFL!!!! |

Was originally looking for a condo where we could bring the lab but decided against the long car ride and extra hassle for my 1st Iron. So she will miss this vacation and stay with the inlaws. Supposed to be a newer place and was only $970 for 5 nights for a 2 br, 2 bath with kitchen and all that. Since we will be driving down and visiting my wife's parents (they are divorced but only live an hour or so apart even though they each moved to Florida after they separated, go figure) in the beginning of the week and then driving to PCB to "celebrate" Halloween at the beach. Not sure how that will be for the kids, but oh well! The building is just down the street from the race hotel, so won't be bad for the family for when they get bored and don't feel like playing on the beach anymore while waiting for me to finish the bike loop and start running. |

I've enjoyed a couple of 4 1/2 days already but will not get a lot of training in next week since I am working on rebuilding homes from hurrican katrina. I hope I can bounce back the week after. |
