No, not the panties under bike shorts question.

I need a slip to wear with dresses the week after next.

OK, I tried to buy a slip today, and was told at 2 major stores that they do not sell them because no one buys them.  Target and JCPenney - don't bother looking for slips there, and the lady at JCPenney said Sears does not have them either.  I realize these are rather pedestrian stores, but I figured those are the places to go......

I had to wonder how old am I?  Does this say something about the moral fiber of our country when you can't find a slip?

When was the last time you bought a slip?  or even wore one?

I know, it's weird.  I was wondering the same thing while thinning out my closet recently and I debated on getting rid of the slip since it has been years since I last wore it, but I saved it in the event things change.  I guess that since thongs have eliminated pantie lines that no-one feels the need for slips anymore, or we wear less polyester so the newer fabrics are less see through?  Or perhaps the more sheer skirts now have slips or liners built in.

keep those slips, sister.

I have one of those wrap style poly (I mean microfiber) dresses that I need a camisole under anyway, so I figured I would get a slinky full slip. nope.

Ah, the wrap dress!  It probably wouldn't be too hard to make a slip.  Do you sew or know someone who does?

I had a sheer summer skirt.... I had to wear a slip underneath it... I have varying lengths of slips... and some of them are full length, like have a bra type thing too... and others are just the bottom skirt kind... Jeez.... If I knew what you needed I'd SEND you what I've got.

What are mentors for?

They're hard to find in department stores anymore - however, amazon.com has everything...

Apparel/Women/Intimate Apparel/Slips & Slenderizers - decent selection there.

WOW!  How sad!  Yet another layer that can be slowly taken off ... and we're denied.

Granted, where I live, no one needs more layers, but c'mon!  Slips can not have gone the way of the dodo.

Of course, I no longer own any ... .

And to answer your question:

Last bought:  1992

Last wore:  1996?

Yikes.

Then again, Miami is forgiving.

I'm sitting in my office on a Monday morning and I find it impossible to get this stupid smile off my face. What a great country, women are now finding it impossible to buy undergarmet thingies. My day just got a little brighter.

I haven't worn a slip since I was like 6.  I have some dresses/skirts with lining built into it, but if I have to buy a slip for something, I don't buy it.  They just make me feel more proper than I really am

I don't buy things I'll need to wear a slip under. Actually, I don't really wear skirts anymore, because that means I'll have to wear pantyhose.

well, I am obviously ouside my normal wardrobe scope (ouslined ad nasueum in my logs), so this is the sudden issue.

I fly to Vancouver today, and I have a week until it is needed, so perhaps a proper canadian shop will have something.   Or, i just go withoug and not think about it...

The slips are now located in the dress department. As dresses.

Gosh I feel old now.  Can't buy a slip?  Who'd of thunk it?  I have several and while I only wear a dress or skirt a few times a year, I do wear a slip with them.  Well, I have a couple dresses with built in slips, but the others don't.  Guess I'll never be throwing out my slips.  Yeesh!

I don't even own a pair of pantyhose! I have a few pairs of black tights to wear with short skirts and boots but other than that, none. But then again I live in the south, and I don't have a corporate job.

A slip, especially the skirt type, is just another item of clothing that can go wrong by falling down, not lining up with the hem right, bunching up, having nasty static, or tucking into my panty hose. Who needs the stress??

No slips, but I may be interested in bloomers...

My skirts and dresses are lined (or intentionally NOT lined). No need for a slip these days. Can't remember when I last owned a slip.
