Excuse me why I go put on my hemp cargo shorts, smoke a bowl and play some disc golf, all the while crying patchouli-scented tears. |

What is a 2007 "hippie"? Come to the South East Side of the Big Island. They don't look like Jim. They have dread locks, wear handmade clothes, hitch hike, live in tents or in communities without electricity and water, hang out at Natural food stores and farmers markets, protest Green Harvest (practice of helicopters flying over areas looking for Marijuana plants), use the library's computer for internet browsing... That listing was not meant to be judgemental, just an illustration of some of the traditional hippies here. You would be surprised at what you see. The nice part is that there is a diverse group of people who believe in the Hippie lifestyle, they just aren't as easy to spot as some of the others. Edited by bigislandfj 2007-05-17 12:02 PM |

The nice part is that there is a diverse group of people who believe in the Hippie lifestyle, they just aren't as easy to spot as some of the others. I think those might be the ones I need a descripton of. There are definitely no stereotypical hippies anywhere in my world, but I want to spot the secret hippies who might be lurking around me.........or I'm wondering if I might have some latent hippie tendencies (hopefully better than latent maniacal tendencies - sorry movie reference) that I need to shed light on, so I can authentically participate in this poll ! |

Champion 7036 Sarasota, FL | Subject: RE: Hippies, Neocons and Fence Sitters in COJ Started out as a conservative straight party line Republican. Life experiences and (hopefully) gained-wisdom over the years have transformed me, at age 53, into a political moderate. I still support a strong defense, but am increasingly passionate about social and economic injustice. I've been very blessed in this life and feel that I need to give back to those who are less fortunate. Mark
