Anyone going to IMC?

Fantastic!  Looks like a few of us will be there.  Maybe we could set up a meeting?  Or...we could meet in line on Monday   Oh god, I think that I just committed myself to signing up *gulp*

Ultramike, you will have to let us know what your number is.  I don't want to miss cheering you on!

Last year people started lining up at noon on Sunday.  But really most of them just stuck lawn chairs in a line, and went and watched the race.  It wasn't until around 9pm that people really started guarding their spots. 

By the time registration started, the line extended all the way from the Expo area to the Penticton Yacht Club.

It turned out that everyone who lined up got in, so it really wasn't necessary to line up that early. 

I was wondering the same thing.  But I didn't think that you would have to line up THAT early   I wonder if that had anything to do with this year's race being the 25th anniversary?  Geez, we could have a "line up" party. 

What time are you planning on getting in the line up?  Now I'm starting to freak out about not getting in, never mind the nauseous feeling about actually doing it.  Next year is now or never for me.

Van, I think you are ready!!!  I agree with busygirl's thought, no time like the present!  You have a year, that is a lot of time!  Busy, I am thinking about getting in line around midnight to 4am.  Is your husband racing this year?  Don't worry about getting a spot, everyone I've talked to from last years sign up got in, even the late comers.  Still...I want to sign up and get outta town early and get back home.  I'll give you guys my number closer to the date so we can meet up.  By the way Van, good luck on the run this weekend!!

Van, I think you are ready too.  That being said...no pressure.  This is a big decision that should be based on how YOU feel about things and not what we all want

Haz, try as I might I can't get Darren interested in triathlons.  He loves to go and watch and be a part of it in that respect but he says that there is "just too much stuff" involved in triathlon racing.  He loves the "purity" of running.  I think it's 'cause of his short attention span   tee hee  He specializes in the 800m and 1500m (track).

We should definitely exchange numbers.  Maybe we should share "mug shots" so that we all know what one another looks like.  I'll be the one walking around paper in hand asking "have you seen these people??"

Last year we didn't even have to pay at the registration.   We just filled out a form with our Name, Email, Phone Number, Birth Date, and Sex. (I have it taped to the wall at my desk here  ) We showed our ID, and we were given a confirmation number.  About 2 weeks later we registered on Active.com, and paid $511.00 US on our credit card ($490 + $21 processing fee)

If its the same procedure this year, I might register again at the athlete registration on Saturday just in case I totally bomb this year's race.  But I kinda promised my fiance I would take next year off and focus on getting a few other things in order before I do another Ironman. 

Thanks!  I admit, I'm starting to get a bit nervous.  OK, its all I can think about.  But I have faith in my training and my race plan, and I think its gonna be a good day. (as long as its not 37 degrees)

Awwwweeee, your jersey matches your bike   I just couldn't resit...sorry.  Looks like you are all set.  Darren(hubby) and I will keep our eyes peeled for the streak of yellow as you go flying past!!

Mike, since you are the one racing (wicked )  we should ask what would work for you.  Are you planning on a last splash in the lake on Saturday? 

At any rate, we could all plan to meet up in line on Monday and have a party/support one another/group therapy session
