TexTriGuy - 2009-08-19 11:01 AM From Ironman.ca FAQ's - "The Athlete Info Guide can be downloaded from the website when it is available. It will be announced at the top of the site homepage, it is typically posted two weeks prior to the race" Nowhere to be seen! Getting kinda close!

Yep, I read that last week.  And Boy Howdy, it is getting close.  I sure wish they would post it soon.

Are you taking your bike to RBM on Friday for Tri Bike Transport to pick up?  That will really make it reality.
I'll be taking my bike up there tomorrow. I'm still debating if I should take off my seat cages (TBT says its a good idea, but I dont see how it could get messed up). The problem is that I'll have to compete (Take on the Heat) with my road bike over the weekend.

Hmmmm. . .  I didn't know we could take them up tomorrow.  I packed my bag (18"x12"x12").  That is an awful small bag.

Yep, I will have to ride my last rides on my wife's road bike.  Thankfully they are just short, easy rides.

I don't have to worry about the seat cages, as I took them off due to the bottles getting launched too often.  I use Infinit Nutrition, and the last thing I need is to lose a bottle of my nutrition.  I used the seat cages last year in Louisville, but lately I've just been losing too many bottle out of them.

I would have had to have my bike to the shop Monday for tri bike transport to take. I arranged to have them do it but made no sense after being gone last week..not ride my tri bike for 19 days out of 21 before an IM. I'm bringing it with me on Southwest for $50 each way. I'm going to either store the bike box at hotel we are staying at in Seattle or a BT friend's house.

I like the forecast... I don't like humid, hot if dry is a bit more tolerable.

Mostly Cloudy
Mostly cloudy. Winds from the WSW at 6 .
Realfeel®: 75 °F
High: 77 °F
Sunday Night, Aug 30
Intermittent Clouds
Partly cloudy. Winds from the W at 5 .
Realfeel®: 50 °F

TBT picked up my bike yesterday. It's for real now. My bag was a bit larger than the 18x12x12, but it weighed 23 lbs.

Hope those temps hold true!!

Yesterday, when I was looking at some of those forecasts (Accuweather, Weather Network, etc.), the weather system that's on Saturday now was earlier in the week. I sure hope it doesn't eventually drag on into Sunday, but it's still far enough off that all sorts of stuff could happen.

My regular pool closes for 2 weeks annual maintenance this coming weekend so I'm bringing my spare suit and goggles home to pack after today's noon swim. We hit the road on the weekend, with a couple days stop over on the way. Ready or not, here it comes!

There is a 2009 Athlete's Guide posted on the IMC website now. It's under the "Race Essentials" tab.

Makes it all more real reading the athletes guide and having our numbers.

Today for me is doing last minute stuff, holding the mail, finding out our health insurance does cover us in Canada, 2.5 mile swim, pick up my bike from shop from work done, directing kids in cleaning and packing, had a massage...

Tomorrow 50 mile ride, clean my bike. lube chain and pack it up.

Saturday we fly out....

Within the athlete packet it does not state at which mileage the run course special needs bag is handed out. Anybody know this from previous IM's? I know its 120km (75miles) on the bike, but what about the run?

Here is my stupid question of the day.... The "green" bag that we get.... What goes in there? Clothes that we are wearing at the beginning of the race, or wetsuit and other swim needs?

hey TexTriguy

green bag.. dry clothes and stuff prior to race
swim stuff (wetsuit..) goes in bike gear bag after you pull it out of it
bike gear goes into the run gear bag during the change from bike to run

get all three back when you pick up your bike at the end of the race
did that make sense

yaqui - 2009-08-10 1:53 PM BT get together/swim: Anybody up for a Thursday morning swim starting at the Sicamous and swimming to the Peach and back. I'm planning on getting there between 7:15 and 7:30 The Sicamous is a sternwheeler/museum on the far west end of Lakeshore Dr. It's less hectic and there's more parking there then the east end where the race transition and village area are. The "Peach" is a concession stand that looks like a giant Peach. It's located where the race day swim start is on the east side of the lake. Thursday afternoon I'm going to have my gf drop me off at Yellow Lake and I'm going to ride back to town. Most of this is downhill, so it's a pretty easy ride. There's a lot of speed to be made up on this descent race day, so it's good to familiarize yourself with it. I don't have a set time for the ride other then after lunch. I don't mind the company if anyone wants to join me. scott

I hope to make the swim...anyone else?

I think James said he'd try and make it as well.

I have swims Tuesday and Wed. Anyone going to be up there then and want to swim?

I'd love to meet many of you before the race. PM me if you want to exchange cell phone numbers.

It might be fun to try and meet up for the athlete dinner of Friday night.

I'll be around on Thursday morning, and should be able to get down to the Sicamous by then. No guarantee, but I "should" be able to make it. The rest of my schedule might get complicated but I hope to get a chance to meet some of you.

I may not be on line much after tomorrow morning, so good luck everyone and have a great race!

Rode from Oliver to crawston today. Richter wasn't as scary as first thought. I don't like the seven rollers after, they break up the rhythem to much. Can't pedal down them cause you go too fast, then you have a hard pedal up. Needless to say it was nice to get out on the course.

Any ideas of where we could meet up Friday for athletes dinner?

We made it to Seattle last night and are driving up tomorrow...looking forward to arriving in Penticton and settling in.
