TODAY'S CHALLENGE....weekends are sometimes harder than during the week as you might follow a different schedule or more dinner parties, kids sporting events, etc....and of course Halloween!

Today I challenge you to think of a mantra to repeat to yourself when you are surrounded by temptation!  A word or phrase to remind yourself to stay on track.

Mine is...."Eating (insert food item) is NOT GOING TO make me look better in a bikini!"

I'll have to try that…

"eating bacon is not going to make me look better in a bikini"…

I feel less tempted already! though I am not sure what foods would actually make me look good in a bikini either.

joemac3 - 2012-10-26 9:20 AM Good morning everyone. The goal for today is some yoga as well as a run on the dreadmill and some weights and core. Let's see how it goes. As far as nutrition I defiantly need to increase my water intake. On a side note. I have found that gum works great for keeping my food cravings at bay.

Awesome goals Joe. I am working on water today and peeing .. a lot.

that is an unfortunate side effect of increased water consumption. on the plus side it gives you a break from any boring mundane task you are working on!

I could use a little advice…

I find that when I eat an actual serving size of food as often as I am supposed to I still feel hungry. I am trying to increase my water intake but at some point I just feel "sloshy". How do you guys feel full when you only have 1 serving size of something?

You will get used to it. Maybe not so much at one time until your body adjusts. I chug down 33oz of water upon waking. Like within 1 minute it's gone. I no longer have the sloshy feeling that I got at first. And I find if I drink a lot while I eat it makes me feel sloshy. I drink before. Sip during. Drink after you've finished. That has been my experience thus far (over a year). I drink over a gallon a day ...but I do live in a hot dry climate.

Thank you I will have to try drinking before and after and just sipping during, I just hope I get used to it sooner rather than later.

Wow, between my breakfast and my lunch, you guys managed to rack up 2 pages of posts! Let's see if I can catch up in one post...

I'm UP a pound for the week. I'm going with water weight. I'll check it again in a day or two to make sure.

Thanks for the spreadsheet!

My goal for today - longish run. DONE! Also, I tested out my newly arrived KT Tape - I don't usually brace my knee for less than 8 miles (ITB issues), but with my 1/2 mary coming up in 2 weeks, I wanted to follow the credo "nothing new on race day..." - nothing like hot pink tape on your leg to make you feel special.

My mantra: "That won't get you back to 2:05." (My half-mary PR from 2008)

Busy weekend here - especially with Hurricane Sandy blowing into town late Sunday.

my water drinking solution. my goal is to drink 2-3 of these a day (full of water…. I was tempted to do coffee, being water based, but decided against it because it would take me too long to brew that much) what do you think?

If you are already a Google Docs user, you'll have to completely log out of your own stuff -- at least, that's what I had to do to be able to pull up the spreadsheet.

Grumpy and in a bingy mood today.  Don't understand why I feel so overwhelmed with something that was once second nature.  Really, respecting my body enough to fuel it properly is not rocket science. Don't know why I resist this so much sometimes. Its very frustrating!

((hugs))

Usually when I feel that way it's more about dealing with stress than lack of respect for my body..

Do something today to pamper yourself :-)

PS - another option, once you've finally made it in, is to share the spreadsheet with your normal gmail address, so you can access it without going in and out of the whole btchallenge rigamarole. That way it will be in your own google drive/google docs.

Imagine youself waking up tomorrow. What decision will you feel better about, then? Think how good it will feel to know you made the right choices today.

Nathanm74 - 2012-10-26 7:43 AM Does anybody have any suggestions for my lunch time workout today at the gym? I have an open day. It would be a swim day, but I'm taking the week off from the pool due to stitches in my hand (see previous post about a basement remodel!) I don’t’ want to run, because I’m going to be attempting a new 10K pr tomorrow. I biked yesterday. I’ll do core at home. What say you for killing some fat cells?

Are you looking to lift or cardio?  Try the elliptical machine.  Based on stitches, maybe lifting is not the thing to do?

Thanks for the idea. When with the ellipical and then stair climber. 20 min ellip and 25 min stairs.

Probalby could have lifted, as the stitches are almost ready to come out, but don't want to risk it.

Followed that up with chicken breast wrap, grapes and carrots.

Signing off for the next 10 days. Good luck everyone on your weight loss and your training. I look forward to catching up when i get back.

The resort we're staying in is where ironman lanzarote is held so will be running a  loop of the run course while i'm there.
