I am having serious focus issues today.  I am SO not into what I am working on at work.

In 'world' news, Leonard Nimoy has passed away.  Farewell, Spock.

I can relate on the work focus today.  I'm just killing time until I leave for a followup CT scan in Seattle this afternoon.  I have to go in every six months to make sure all is well with my health issues.  It's been all good for five and half years but it never gets easier.  Heck, I'm going to leave now and go for a quick swim.

Spock was such a huge character and was truly one of my favorites.  Loved that guy.

Have a great weekend everybody!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for a clean CT, Pops!  Lots of positive thoughts coming your way.

Yessirree Pops. You are such a gorgeous man(atee) ... it would only be fitting to have beautiful scan images reflect the hotness.

OMG PEOPLE it's finally at the minute I can order pancakes from McDonald's. I wasn't sure I could endure.

When I say we have NO FOOD in the house, what I mean is we have in-the-teens assortment EACH of dog, cat, and kitten dry and canned foods.

I'm desperate and I haven't gone food shopping in ... a week? More? but I'm not THAT desperate.

Yet.

Those foods ARE high in protein.  You probably don't want to know exactly what KIND of protein, but the fact remains (don't want to know what kind of remains either) that they could get you through in a pinch.  I'm guessing it would have to be a pretty big pinch though....

No, it's DS2's. I figured I'll drop the seat and use it for drainer rides so I don't have to haul mine up n down the stairs. At least till he asks for it in Charleston.

I'm impressed, you didn't wait too long to repurpose the room. We are finally working on the rooms now. 6 years after the second one left for school.

Nice set-up.  Good to see you're keeping your helmet close at hand in case you have an extra-hard ride planned.   I like the race bib design.  I hadn't thought to save my bibs for my races, except for my 1st one.  Maybe I should start...

That's my Jens helmet. We won't be sweating in that one anymore. I'm looking for a shelf worthy of it. The paper rolled up next to it is my autographed Ryan Hall poster! Both will soon be adorning the walls.

I have had more awesome today than one day can handle. We had a beautiful snowfall so I grabbed the dog and we headed out for 5 miles in the pristine, unadulterated snow. Incredible run!!! I called it done at 5, though, because her paws were getting snow-packed. So I finished up with 5 more at the gym and capped off my first 100 mile month!!!!!
Then while at the grocery store DS2 called!!!! Fortunately DH was with me because he'd decided to drive me due to the afore mentioned snow. DS2 sounded great!
I'm higher than cloud 9 right now, cloud 10 maybe?

TJ your room looks great, and I'm really glad to hear that DS2 is doing well.
Yanti I'm also glad to hear that you are up for eating, is this a sign that you are slightly on the mend?
Steve I hope that your scans went well and you have a clean bill of health.
Sorry I missed all you racing Manatees, I hope you had/have great races.
Jen I hope your new job has started well and Mary so glad to hear that Alex has found a new one, I hope he enjoys it. Now we just need to get Erin's J sorted.

I've been away for work and flat out because the auditors start this coming week and they need to know what colour underwear I wore each day last year. I have also been back and forward to the vets last week for blood tests on our girl that we are mating. We did the deed on Friday so now just praying that it all works out as it should. If it does then the puppies will arrive about 3 weeks before my planned HM, so not sure I will be able to do it, but we will see.

Unfortunately we will be back to the vets again this morning, as soon as they open because our old girl has a massive amount of fluid build up in her rear leg, it goes from her foot to up past her hock (knee) joint. The scarey thing is that she was off her food yesterday, which never happens, and last night we found a rather large lump in her leg. We are praying that it is just a blocked glad or something and not much more sinister.

Looks like Sean had a great race!!!

Hope Matt is having a good weekend (first-time butterflies and rain notwithstanding)

Tom- take care of that knee tomorrow and have a blast!

Ann-Marie - if you can't have a PR, hoping you get cool, non-rain weather...and fun...and beer.

My "training" is a self-imposed 3-4-6-4-3 running schedule (I've missed one of the 3s with odd days the last two weeks.) Next week, the bike is back in consistently, and swim will just be on back burner til I actually have a race to plan for. Those are not anywhere in near future as J is continuing his job search and budgeting is priority.

Today we took the mtbs out to our CGMtn trails. I haven't been there since November's cactus butt crash, and I'm using the clipless now. I was definitely tight/nervous on the narrow, rockier sections, but they really make such a difference on the climbs. All in all, it was a pretty good ride for the lack of trail time I've had lately.

It was super windy and looked like rain was coming in. Made for some great views!

(and now to read more than this last page)

First 5k of the season in about an hour. It's snowing with a few inches already on the ground. Should be a good time!  It's about 28* outside, which is pretty warm.  I won't need to layer up a lot.

That race was seriously uphill both ways in the snow.  I ran 10 minutes slower than I normally do.  It wasn't a true test of fitness, but it was a legit workout!  It'll make a great story.

Great news - the vet thinks that the lump and fluid in Abbi's leg is an infected lymph node and not bone cancer. Diagnosis is based on the lameness coming after the swelling rather than before. She has had a shot of antibiotics and anti inflammatory. She seems to have improved over he day, but back for more shots tomorrow and then probably then oral antibiotics for a bit.

Nice workout room.  I really like the race numbers.  I've got several stacks that I'm waiting to do something similar.  I hope you have a mat to go under the trainer.

When last child moved out her room became my fitness room.  My wife wanted to turn it into a guest bedroom but there wasn't much debate.

Glad to hear that things are less serious.  Must be a huge relief.

Unfortunately, I have to wait until Monday for the results of my scan.  I really wish they could do the scan and results same day.  It is a little nerve racking.

I'm going to go for a short run this morning to test out my sore foot.  Thought I'd go to the track so I could cut it short at anytime and not have to walk far.  This was a good week with 5 rides and 4 swims.  I really need to make some solid gains on the bike.

Thanks so much! I'm still on the runners high today! Except for being sore. Very sore.

I hope your scan results come back perfect (and quickly), I will be thinking about you.

I'll work on a race report for my races, but here's the cliff notes for each one:

20k TT - Rain was light at parts, but not too bad.  Wind was a different story.  Managed to finish 5th among CAT 4's, and would have placed 1st in CAT 5.  I raced as a 4 in the TT to get more points for the team in the local series.

CAT 5 Crit - Holy cow this was awesome!  I did some short sprints out of turns for the first few laps to see who the contenders were.  After I noticed who I pegged as the strongest of the other guys struggled to bridge one of my harder efforts I decided to go for it the next lap.  After I realized my break stuck I basically time trialed it for the remaining 12 minutes of the race and won by over a minute off the front.  It was an awesome experience!

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
