Doug - Like Linda, I was raised an Army brat.  Even though the moving was hard it was all I knew and I don't know if I'll ever had the opportunities to travel the world like I did growning up.  That had a major impact on shaping my views of the world.  I'm sure your family will come to the right decision but the kids will reflect how you present it.  Every time we had to move my mom said I had 2 days to pout, then it was time to look forward to the new adventure.

Foot is feeling funky.  Suzy you will be very proud of the coach.  He didn't buy my funky anatomy excuse since I"ve never seen this before therefore he is re-writing my calendar to keep me off my feet.  I see lots of riding, swimming, and water running in my future.  Did some water running last night.  I felt like such a fool!  Anyone else do water running?

For all our runners this weekend........ RUN LIKE SNOT!!!!

I did some water running when I had a stress fracture in my 2nd metatarsal. I would definitely recommend getting a water running belt. This is the one I bought:

http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/2351.htm?color=210

It allows you to do deep water running so there is no impact. I liked it, but you have to work really hard to get your heart rate up. There's lots of information on the web for workouts and such too. I'll send you some links later. I'm on my way to Spokane right now. Also, I would highly recommend a waterproof case and headphones for your ipod to beat boredom.

Thanks Roni.   Right now I'm water running at my local gym pool but that doesn't have a deep end so my feet touch the whole time.  Not sure how the foot will take that.  Otherwise I have limited access to a deep pool so I might have to do some schedule juggling.  If so I'll be getting the belt for sure.  I wondered how people went about staying afloat.

No boot and not sure how this happened.  Don't remember rolling the foot or stomping on a rock or anything.  Shoes aren't showing an uneven wear pattern.  So for now I'll let the foot heel then probably have a gate analysis done with either the coach or my PT.

Tracy!!!!  I don't think you are supposed to do aqua jogging with feet touching the bottom!  I am having a deja vu that you and I had this conversation a few years back, but I could be wrong...it can actually do more harm if your feet are hitting the bottom of the pool.  Deep water for sure!!!  With the belt Roni recommended or something like it.

Ok serious question...

my best friend from high school's Dad passed away on wednesday. His and I aren't really all that close right now, but we were good friends through high school and still keep 'in touch' a bit.

The funeral is in my hometown about 90 min drive from here. at 10 AM saturday. I believe they are having the normal funeral, burial then a social

My 10k is at 9AM.

What you guys think?

Trevor - I totally understand the "not a funeral guy".  They make a lot of peple uncomfortable mostly b/c I think people don't know what to say to the grieving family.  I was not a funeral person either until 3 weeks ago when I lost my dad.  I realized being on the other side of things how comforting the little things are.  Even a simple hug and I'm sorry means so much.

At a time when things seem so unfair and dark, the warmth and love that friends and family provide is lifting.  And yes, you are there for your friend but I wanted people to be there so they could know about and celebrate my dad's life.  I wanted people to know my dad and share him with everyone.

If you can make it great, if not at least make a special trip to chat with him.

Kim is absolutely right! Your feet cannot touch the bottom or you are doing more harm than good.  I did try water running when I had my stress fracture, but I am an aqua idiot and couldn't figure it out.  Kim's coach wanted me to get my HR into Z4...I think it might have hit Z1!  If you can't get to a deep end, forget about it!

Not only do you need beer, you need a manicure to trim those cuticles!

Results of my 5k were posted.  I had to run out to make a soccer game after the race and didn't get to see.  4th overall (out of 450ish), 1st age group and 12 seconds off pr.  I needed a good first race of 2012 after missing 2 races being sick.  Now back to regular scheduled training...
