sdalessio - 2012-07-09 8:54 AM Awesome job guys and gals in Portland!  Sounds like everyone put in a solid race.  I love the Rev3 races.  Just signed up for Rev3 Williamsburg last night.  Price goes up tonight.  Any East Coasters want to join me?  I know it is a pretty tame course by this groups standards but I like tame.  :-)  Anyway race day is June 23.

funny.  i was looking at the race last night.  thinking this or eagleman.  leaning more towards this.  and now that i know tony will be there.. HELL YEAH, i get to harass him in person again!!!!  haha.

i'll talk to jarrett and see whats up.  i like this idea because of the history lessons coupled with vacation coupled with the race.

and just in case it does work out.... i'm gonna crush you.

I think the Rev3 event will be more fun, probably a lot less crowded, I would imagine both venue's will be hot, flat and fast.

Eagleman has jellyfish.  Williamsburg has all of the fun historical stuff very close by (Jamestown settlement is literally across the street if they stick to the same SetUp start/finish) plus Busch Gardens and Water Country just down the road.

And it could be a nice practice for Ironman Williamsburg 2014 ?!?!?!  There's a group trying really hard to get that deal done.

Any idea of timing for the IM?

I think Sept/Oct.  I would hope early Oct.  Weather is tricky around here.  Can't do summer - brutal temps and Sept. is the end of hurricane season and I swear that is when we tend to get the storms.  I suppose if they push it into 2014 b/c originally the talk was late 2013 then it opens up the spring.  Not sure - there is a FB group and the organizer posts sporadically.  That area does a lot of races so I don't know if that is good or bad.  Word around town is IM really, really wants more East Coast opps and that area has the infrastructure to support a race of that size.  I hope it goes through.  It is the one place I'd feel comfortable pulling the trigger.

Funny, Dave missed the finish because he thought I wasn't coming for awhile yet and he had just gone to the bathroom when I appeared. Shea almost didn't make the run with me because she was slow to realize what was happening and then was yelling, "Mom, wait up!!!" I told her "Shea, hurry up!! I'm not waiting!" Ha!

Body feels like I was run over by a truck. Much, much, much more sore than an IM race. Go figure.

My marathon went past our hotel TWICE but each time no family, then at the finish I was looking right and left up at the stands, the crowd were going wild and I was thinking what a great way for the kids to see their old dad finish his marathon but it turned out they had got stuck in traffic and I had to wait for an hour for them to turn up... By then my legs were so stiff I needed to be pulled up off the ground before I could walk back to the car!

I'm not big on posting voting things, but this guy is a local cyclist and triathlete, he's a Hemophiliac racing on the road and in tri's, which is pretty amazing.  My brother is a Hemophiliac also, thankfully it seems to be a pretty small club.  It's kind of a crappy disease where your blood doesn't clot, which plays havoc on your joints among other things, I am amazed this guy can run a marathon and still walk.

It's a contest for Kona Slots, so if you want to vote for him.

Congratulations to all our fabulous athletes. I am super proud of all of you.  Life has gotten kind of ugly for me right now so I enjoy escaping through your race reports and wonderful stories.   Sorry I missed my Monday inspiration of the week.  Here is one of my favorites.

The  jump is so frightening between where I am and where I want to be….but for all I may become I will close my eyes and leap!   M.C. Hershey

Depending on how severe his condition is it won't stop bleeding until he gets a shot.  My brother has been giving himself shots for years and years, before that my parents used to do it, when he was a kid they didn't have the medicine that could be given at home so he had to go to the hospital for a transfusion.

SO it would be almost like riding with an epi-pen or something like that?

It's actually a box of medicine with 2 bottles in it that need to be mixed then put into a syringe.  Not something that you could carry.  I would imagine his wife or someone comes to races with the medicine if needed.  It's not where you would bleed out completely at a simple scrape or even hitting the deck, but it either won't completely stop either.

The biggest worry is the pounding of the joints creates internal bleeding, they bruise very easily and the jarring of the body in running I would think his knees are one big bruise after a race.

Another great summation Jayne!  It keeps me in the game.  Congrats to all the MG racers, everyone is SO fast!

I have been getting caught up on all the projects I put off when the training volume was high.  I only meant to take a week off but it quickly turned into 2 and a few days  Been out and about with the new puppy which has been really great.

Hope everyone is getting some relief from the heat and having a great week.  Sorry Tracy for the rough patch but thank you for the quotes.  Hope it all turns a corner soon.

I'll enter Portland again next year if you do. And I'd whip your arse sideways all over the hills. Even at my slow speeds! Ha!

Seriously, though, yay for all of you!!!!!

I'll most certainly vote for him.  One of the major rewards of my job is the role I play in making hemophilia drugs to support people like this being able to live their dreams.
