When did you arrive in Seattle??? Birdy, are you still here?
I come and go... most of the time I am just entertained by reading everything.
As for racing.... NADA, ZILCH, ZERO, NOTHING.... Haven't signed up for anything at all. I still go out and "train" with people that are much more motivated than me, but I am usually bringing up the rear. RP and I are going to do a 38 mile trail run (unsanctioned) in Sept with around 16000 feet of elevation gain/loss! Apparently there is some big race in the NW that some SWBKRUN MG'S are going to partake in next April and I need to be ready for that!!!! my secret weapon for the big race. if you try to pass us she'll knock you upside the head with that watch!
It's all about the "bling!" Thank you for not sharing the other picture. I am sure that made me look like a great parent! kyla said she's gonna post it. i can't have all the fun. |

I probably have about 200-250 miles on my current shoes cause I ran in them before I started using the BT equipment tracker. My feet were never sore or tender on runs before so I am assuming that's the case, just checking though. That's usually the indicator I use, if everythings good then all of a sudden your foot is sore and it's not an injury probably time to replace the shoes, though 200-250 miles is a bit early from my experience,. I thought that was early as well but I also read that body weight also plays a part and most running sites consider 180lbs+ a heavy runner and I am approx 193ish. I am going to get another pair this weekend and be more diligent with tracking and see how long theses last. Thanks |

The foot is pretty complicated and there are a lot of tendons that connect at the bottom. By the way, are we talking bottom or top? Kind of matters..... |

With my old shoes, I got 250 miles or more, but I also got heel pain, so $60 every 2 months is not so bad. Not sure why I go through them so fast, but I do most running on asphalt/pavement, maybe? I know the EVA foam is softer and less springy than say the Newton's, but no changing here while things are good. kt65 - 2011-06-13 2:34 PM GrapeJuice - 2011-06-13 10:22 AM dalessit - 2011-06-12 2:51 PM GrapeJuice - 2011-06-12 1:41 PM Question. I didnt think other causes cause i havent been over doing it in my training, atleast I dont think so. But your thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated Look at this. I only include this to illustrate the anatomy of the foot. Many of your leg tendons attach at the bottom including your flexors. Do you feel like you have any calf, peroneal or shin tightness. This could cause soreness in the bottom of that foot. Or you could be like me right now. I bruised the 2nd metatarsal head which is at the bottom of the foot and hurts like the devil. Or you could have a stress reaction in one of your mets....not to scare you at all. So....where exactly on that foot is the pain. The midfoot is a big area, especially on your feet!! I would start by doing a little self diagnosis....use your roller on your calves/shins/peroneals and note tightness. Massage the area of your foot that is sore....dig in there.....how much does it hurt when you do that?? I'm no MD, but it's a start. It might be your shoes, but my guess is it isn't. |

A couple tendons from your shin attach at the bottom of the foot and there are several more that are involved in toe movements. It could certainly be your shoes, but you may want to take a look at this:
I also rotate between two pairs of running shoes. It supposedly makes them last longer.
Edit--I see Suzy posted something along the same lines. Those are great diagrams of the foot (yep, I'm a geek). Edited by dcon 2011-06-13 8:23 PM |
