Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by Artemis My jogo tonight: 30 minutes on the bike towing E! I feel like it should count double. The calorie counter in my long definitely does not take into consideration how much work I did! Also, Strava says I climbed 117 feet. It felt like sooooo much more! E loved it though. She was great about wearing her helmet. If this doesn't make me a stronger rider, nothing will. She is darling! And you are right. Towing is tough, especially if there's any wind at all. Towing Jayson with his tag-a-long is a little easier because we're more aerodynamic. Sometimes I just let him pedal, and I coast. lol |

I really appreciate it! I had actually PM'd Yanti after the first few days of the group and asked to leave. I was completely overwhelmed with the coolness of the cool kids & really felt like too much of a newbie to keep up, let alone contribute. But, I see once a Manatee always a Manatee ![]() ![]() Are we the cool kids???? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by brigby1 Don't remember the 1-2-3 conversation, but in case you want more on it. It's not necessary to read all of those to get a good handle on things! Perfect! Thanks for that link, Ben. I knew that Barry P had the information somewhere, but I couldn't find it. We should have a Manatee link archive and put this link and the Scout blog in it for future reference. Kind of like our bike gallery. Edited by KansasMom 2013-06-05 9:56 PM |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by KansasMom Originally posted by brigby1 Originally posted by StaceyK LOL Great. Train for it, and not run it. But I see the logic. Run lots. Mostly easy. Sometimes hard. Hey it's all cool because I got my question answered a few pages back and it's been a very interesting discussion to read. As a result of the great Manatee advice I have adjusted my planned race back to the 12km. I have started a more conservative training plan which I feel much more comfortable with using the 3-2-1 concept that someone mentioned. It felt good to run today knowing that I could manage the distance that I needed to do and wasn't under mining the plan by having to bail before I could finish it. So thanks everyone for the great advice. Yes. I got my questions answered, but I think I hijacked someone's post to do it. Stacey's, I think??? I did such a good job taking it over, that I don't even remember who asked the original question. Shame on me. Don't remember the 1-2-3 conversation, but in case you want more on it. Well maybe there is some sort of IT person in our pod that might like to set that up for us ![]() (Its definitely not me I know how to turn mine on and that's about it) I am enjoying a very relaxing week of vacation this week. Ok so i am supposed to be finishing my paper on Servant Leadership but lurking in the Manatee pod is so much more appealing. Edited by StaceyK 2013-06-05 9:53 PM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Spent the day with my son. Just us. It was awesome! KC Legoland, Panera for lunch, and Curious George exhibit. Now it's 10pm... No road run. Getting on treadmill in the basement since DH won't be calling for another hour. Might as well make use of my time. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Phew! 10 hour day today at work, after Masters this AM. Got my run in after work--it felt really tough! I did an out and back to AVOID all the hills around here--and still ended up with 56m (~150 ft) gain. I'd take some flat ![]() |

I also love Greenleaf's stuff. I am a disciple of the servant leadership model. What a fun paper to be writing. I didn't find it fun at all, I found it very frustrating. I am sure that Greenleaf was smoking crack while he wrote at least the first chapter of his book. I dont mind the Servant Leadership model once you fully understand it but I just found Greenleaf really annoying. Anyway its done now and I really dont even care if I only get a pass or a credit. It will ruin my Distinction average but Im just so very over it. Only got 3 more subjects to complete before the end of the year and they are on good topics like law and accounting - much more up my alley ![]() |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Got a fairly large Jogo in today...a 1200m swim immediately followed by a 12 mile bike...I am happy to say that this training session evoked the awesome-happy feeling I love that has been lacking for most of my training this year. I then spent a good 20 minutes hitting softballs at the batting cages tonight. My shoulder is quite unhappy as a result, but I am still thrilled with today's activities. It's nice to have my enthusiasm for activity back! |

About to get some pretty serious weather, should last until about 11, then a bit of a break until the back portion passes by this evening when we should get another round of junk. I was thinking about the new site this morning and my observation (worth what you paid for it) is that the social aspect seems a bit more cludgy, while the training/logging side added a few features. Or maybe they existed before, but I didn't find them. If nothing else, the new site has forced me to take a fresh look and I have found some reporting that I didn't know existed. I think some of the logging and such is more cludgy now as well, and I don't upload workouts either, so I can't comment on that, but I pulled a graph on the past few weeks, then months for comparison sake. It was simple to do the look back in time, which I really like. The conversation in here got me thinking about my recent training volume, much like Ben did. And I did notice that my running has taken on a VERY consistent, yet low volume nature in the past 2 months. I need to shake it up with some different distances. As for the quiet Manatees, I believe that our fearless leader has been immersed in life and has slowed her banter back and forth with our other fearless leader. I hope and pray that things calm down for you at some point, Yanti. |

New user ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm baaaaaack! What a great vacation. I recommend getting to a place where you cannot be reached by phone, fax or email. I feel like my brain has been gone over with a dust rag and all the little dust bunnies of life have been cleaned away! I highly recommend the Snake River and Hells Canyon if you can get a trip on it. I was very lucky to get the opportunity to jump on a private trip. It is beautiful. My Hells Canyon trip photo album is public on my facebook page, if you'd like to see it feel free to stop by. I probably consumed 5,000 calories a day. We had three kegs cooled by dry ice and run through a cooler with two taps. We just floated up to the boat and filled our mugs with frosty beer anytime we wanted. We drank less gin and tonic than normal on these trips. Don't quite know why. I will say that rafting has its inherent workouts. Load boats, paddle, get to camp and unload boats, set up camp, break down camp and reload boats, paddle. Every day for 6 days. I've decided to get a trainer for a month and learn how to lift. My boating muscles came back pretty quickly, but I think I need a boost. I'm looking forward to getting back on the horse since I have a race coming up in July. Good to be back, but I would have liked another day or two on the river. |

Love the build up. I wish my training log had all those pretty colors and consistency! I am honored! And thanks, but if you wanna see logs with stuff in em, check out the rest of the Manatees. Folks like Janyne, Salty, Judi and Ben and number of others are really racking up some training time. I am so impressed by the way ya'll juggle life and training. |

I hope and pray that things calm down for you at some point, Yanti. The workout setup has all been fine for me. Everything has been loading easily, I can see the calender. I like that the workouts can expand or pop up directly from the calender so we can see specifics of what we did quite easily. Not sure I like so much how things with the races have been over simplified. I haven't really noticed dates on race reports. There is nothing to say what year that report was for. That can matter a lot with various conditions and situations differing from year to year.Have they done away with Official Threads? I really liked how we could go to the race page and on it the discussions for previous years were all linked there. They do have a nice short hand page for race reports with links to the full report by individuals, but again, there are no dates associated with it, so can't tell if something was going on one year or whatever. For example, is swimming through the heavy weeds a regular issue or did they just goof one year? |

They are from Singapore. They have no one supporting here so I am now their cheer squad! Of course I offered my wetsuit stripping help in T1... And we exchanged phone numbers. I love this sport! You are the best. The only chick I know that can meet two strangers in an airport, and within minutes convince them to let you strip them. |
