Yeah, the Tom and the maid thing was just annoying.  She was WAY too forward.

Here's a good one...what about Tom and Lady Mary????  Two young babies to take care of....it could work. :D

Of course then Lady Mary wouldn't have fascinating love interests so obviously we can't have that happening now can we?

Lady Mary is far far to much of a high nosed beeyotch for Tom.  He'd never put up with her snooty azz ways.  But then maybe she needs to be brought back down a peg or 300 ...

So there will be two babies and feisty 18 year old living at the castle.  Should make it interesting.  I wonder how much time will pass between seasons?  They did pass a year between episodes.  The babies could be all grown up next time we see them!

I read season 4 starts 6 months later

Yep, that is what happens.  Close to Christmas per the Director.  That's why they killed Matthew and Cybil off now so that there was a separation between their deaths and Christmas.  His funeral would be over and they would be past it.

I'm wondering if something will happen between Tom and Rose.  Don't know why just something that creeps into my head.

Going by whats happened so far, who knows.  lol

The show started the morning after the Titanic sunk, 1912, and lasted till war broke out, which IIRC, was the last line of season 1, 1914 (I think it was early July as Franz Ferdniand was assassinated June 28, 1914, or it could have been early August when the UK declared war)

Season 2 went from 1916 to 1919, with the xmas special going into January 1920.

Season 3 started spring of 1920, never saw any snow, and xmas special was summer/fall of 1921.

One thing I'd like to see in the next season is Tom saying screw you guys, I'm going home.  The Republic of Ireland was officially independent in 1922 (even though the Irish civil war went from 22 to 23)

I started watching this show on Amazon Instant Video a few weeks ago and now I'm caught up through season 3.

WOW what a great show.  Very sad at how Season 3 ended but I supposed we needed some sort of cliff hanger unless Thomas died and not many would be sad about that.  Seems he's mellowed out some.  I was waiting for Miss O'Brien to kill off the other house maid in Scotland.

BTW, I want to move to Scotland.

Muwahaha!  Another one hooked on this show!

It'll be interesting to see what happens in Season 4 with Matthew not in the picture anymore... who is going to take over managing Downton?  Who will come on as a new love interest for Mary?  What's going to happen with Edith and her editor?  I do sometimes wonder how the writers will be able to keep some of the plot lines going, but I guess we'll find out.

I don't think Thomas was enough of a fan-fave or enough of one of the main characters for the public to really care if he was offed or not.  For me, it's been much more entertaining to watch him and O'Brien as enemies than as allies.
