Good afternoon! Got in another ride today. I managed to stay upright in spite of my first ride being clipped in! Yahoo! I really like it. Then did some water running - did someone say brick?

Just reporting that I did two rides today - the log won't let you enter separate times, so I combined them, but gave a little break down in the comments section. Just short and nothing special, but I'm getting them done at least!

Barlo Baby Xander is here! He was born at 9:50PM Monday night. 8lbs 5oz and 21 inches long. I had to leave mommy and baby tonight and didn't bring the camera home, so no pics yet. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, it was a wonderful experience this time.

Oh Mark! I am overjoyed! Congratulations!!! I have been waiting with baited breath (not quite as long as you and the wife waited, of course, but still).

I can't think of a more delightful celebration in our little group.

Team Barloworld's Problems:

Too much Smack Talk.

Too much posting on the forum.

Too little riding their bikes.

At least you've got the most pages on the forum!

Ride 21 done this morning at 5 am.

Team CSC is gonna win this by miles (or minutes or % or whatever

We've alll been riding. Maybe we're not doing 50 miles every day, but we're riding. 'Nuff said.

Congrats to Mark!

Jens can suck my disk - I believe MANY of his rides were "prologue" rides.  Not that there's anything wrong with that... but you can't come over here and poo on us for smack talking and not enough riding with such pathetic smack talk.  Heck yeah we have the most posts here - as in almost twice as many as any other team - because Barlo is truly a TEAM and we make sure the love is felt all around... while the rest of you are too busy hiding each others needles to give your teammate a hug after each stage.  Some free advice - those 21 rides would have made you a lot less cranky if you had put a seat on your seatpost!    (all in good fun - just wanted to be clear).

I was most pleased to find two things this morning:

1) Barlo continued to hold the lead in the BT tour through week two - YEAH WE DID!!!!  Newbie wild card cinderalla story fo' sho'... just like our real life Barlo idols.

2) Barlo is even getting some love in the Tour de France forum - check out the post by CubeFarmGopher about the positive side of this year's tour... http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=84790&posts=4#M900230

And for the record, I haven't even been posting much smack since I've been crazy busy at work - no time to waste online. But then again, I do have a JOB...and it's not triathloning. So it's expected that at least 9-10 hours of my day are taken up with work and commuting.

I am getting in as many miles as I can. No, I'm not as fast as the CSC'ers so I can't cover 20 miles in an hour. But I've been riding for what, 3 months? I think I'm doing pretty darned good considering my newbie status. Two workouts a day, even if they're not much more than an hour (because that's the time I have), I would still consider hard work.

Alright, alright.

Just a bit of good old fashioned British sarcasm. I didn't mean to make anyone cry

As it was kindly pointed out. Most of my rides were just commuting to work and back. But they all count right.

Jens, you gave up that fight far too quickly.  I was actually looking forward to some back and forth, as it seems madcow has bowed out of the smack talking once faced with the indisputable fact of our superiority... c'mon there's no denying we've led the tour for two weeks now.  I'm sure there will be a whole bunch of whining and moaning in Paris about "our team had the most riders doing all 21 stages" bla bla bla, but I know what the standings say.

And I was really proud of my seat/seatpost comment...

K, folks. I have been lying low lately due to being super busy at work, but it's getting down to the wire, so I may have to open up a can of whoop-a$$ on y'all if necessary. We gotta finish our rides!!!! We've already got one teammate off the checklist - let's try to add the rest of us! I will be finished by Friday morning if it kills me (which it very well might, seeing as how we're leaving for the beach at 6am-ish!!) - the rest of you have the luxury of two extra days! Let's show the rest of the cycle-divas here that us newbies won't go quietly!

And just for the record - 1 ride down of 2 today.

Momentous week for me ... first group ride, first master's workout, first training ocean swim (details in log). Kudos to Dolores for splashing the way first and getting me in the big water ... I swim like a shark but am the biggest chicken ever about the cold, and she has had to patiently hear me b!tch about it for weeks.

I love this team. It is so inspiring to me to see the amazing headway everybody is making.

Congratulations on the new Barlow-baby Xander!

Chrissy, I feel your pain at work. Got my butt kicked for 2 of my 3 days this week (snake bites are really interesting by the way but severely anemic pregnant ladies are a bit scary)

Squeezed in a ride on my trainer after work today--got VBS all week from 6-9 so that's eating my training time.

Got to get up early tomorrow for a run, go to the hospital for a mandatory meeting,a dental appointment then home to the gym for a good swim (my kids still won't see much of me on my day off) Off again Friday, hoping for an AM run with evening OW swim practice (gotta try out the wetsuit cause I'll probably need it for the race) and I want to bring the bike to try the hills along the river (though that road has minimal shoulders)

Wow--we are all 1 or 2 rides to the finish! LET'S GET TO PARIS FIRST!!!!! You guys are so awesome.

With the way things are going in France (no spoiler, just a general comment, but it's all over BT already), Barloworld might wind up winning a jersey or two

I'm going swimming with the family right now and have talked the wife into hanging out a while whilst I ride a good final 30 minutes.

Josh, I love you forever too . Hey, you think I'm NOT gonna hold you to that promise?

I just finished dinner and will ride to my spot of evening work instead of driving--and that should wrap it up for me.

BTW Dolores and I are doggie trainers/handlers and we work together. I am off to visit three delightful squiggly little pugs. I also have a part-time desk job working for an ahem certain cycling/fitness company. I love my life sooooo much!

Edit: actually, gonna save my last ride as my long one tomorrow ... and savor it.

Last ride is in the books, log shows it under 'bike trainer' in the special sports category as well as the cycling, since there are two of them reflected on the same day.

Josh, barlo-finished

p.s. Forever and ever.
