Expert 671 | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge kimmax - 2011-08-09 11:16 AM I'm always so envious of people that can find scenery like that just outside their front door. I've been doing so good these past couple of days but they are having a bake sale for charity and I cheated - and it wasn't good - that's the worst. I'm all for the 80/20 but if the cheat isn't good quality tasty food then it's just a total waste. Fortunately it was a small cheat. Hope everyone is having a good day. Rainy up here! It is one of the perks of living in Colorado. You can visit anytime but do not dream of moving here--there are already too many houses in that photo. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge So I finally caught with the trainer to get the workouts he promised me at the end of our contract. I have 4 new workouts. I think he's going to hurt me when he isn't there to do so. Seriously, single leg Bulgarian squats? |

Regular 137 Lansing, Michigan | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge I weighed myself the morning before I left town (Sunday am) and was at 199.5 (I blame it on my massive sodium intake the night before... sushi and miso). At least it is going in the right direction! I'll wait till I get back home to do the bf% and pictures. Conference is in Austin.... in August.... ugghh. I did still get out for a run Monday morning. Hoping to get out tomorrow morning for a half hour run. Congrats to everyone that is sticking with the challenge! |

You know, it's funny - for as long as I've struggled with weight, the point about eating to support the weight you WANT to be never occurred to me. Especially now that I'm within 10 pounds of my goal weight... it wouldn't cut too many calories and it would be a good teaching tool for when I get down to that point, too. |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge wgraves7582 - 2011-08-10 8:14 AM OK peeps I need some suggestions. I am a big time snacker during the day (don't eat huge meals) and as we all know snacks=carbs=bleck. Besides the 4-5 pieces of fruit I have each day what do you guys and gals suggest for easy protein intake? I'm a snacker too. I tend to pair mine with fruit; 1% cottage cheese and berries, a piece of aged cheddar or a tbsp of peanut butter and an apple, hard boiled egg, and my fave - but takes some prep - is 1/2 can of tuna with alfalfa sprouts on whole grain crackers - mini sandwiches. I'll eat a small handful of nuts if I'm in a hurry or a LF string cheese. My hubby eats a lot of beef jerky - I used to harrass him thinking it too salty but when you look at the ingredients - it's not such a bad snack option afterall. Good luck! |

Besides the 4-5 pieces of fruit I have each day what do you guys and gals suggest for easy protein intake? I eat tuna without anything added (I know most people need mayonaise) for some quick and easy protein. I can also stomach a can of sardines to add some omega fats to the protein although I understand that most cannot handle these--they are cheap though so if you swallow them---go for them! |

I have a home office, the scent stays around for a while. They are so dang good for you, though. |

Expert 671 | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Tom and I are planning to run the Run for the Ranch marathon together on December 18th. It is his first and I am going for a Boston qualifying time. Race has a loop foramt which I think could help me (basically 8 5Ks). Anyone up to join us? Race is 18 weeks from Sunday so training should start soon unless you already have a fall marathon planned and then it would just consist of a recovery period and then pick up training again for an even FASTER marathon than your fall race. Here is the link: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/directory/link-detail.asp?linkid=31429 Oh yeah: my cousin lives in Springfield and Brad Pitt's brother is his next door neighbor. We can all hang out at my cousin's with telephoto lenses to see if we can sell photos to pay for our trips to Springfield! Ladies--a chance to whoo Brad away from Angelina--he is looking for an excuse anyway. |

Extreme Veteran 671 Not Quite DFL | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge I do not think I have officially posted any goals. I'll keep them simple, and likely unattainable, especially in the short term.
I want to get back down to 195 with an eye to 185. Get BF% to 24 (or so) I have not been training much (none this week) so that sure makes things a lot more difficult.

I can also stomach a can of sardines to add some omega fats to the protein although I understand that most cannot handle these--they are cheap though so if you swallow them---go for them! I love tuna as well. Also Salmon, which has more fat but I think it is the healthy fat so not so big a deal. My previous goto snack was simply 2 pieces of bread, which I keep a loaf of behind my desk. However, that is pretty carb intensive, but at the same time I think good bread has fiber and even some protein in it. Anyways, I am trying to cut back on that because it is out of control, on some days when I bike commute and run I can go through a whole loaf. I have now embraced the bag of baby carrots. I used to not buy them because they are more expensive than normal carrots but I now have no time to peel a carrot so I end up eating fruit. So yeah, baby carrots, a 3/4 of a cup has 30 calories, 7 grams of carbs, 2 grams of fiber and 1 gram of protein. Probably take at least 15 minutes to eat them. Pair that with 1 slice of bread and a big glass of water and I am probably 70 calories behind my previous snack. Not sure I can or should cut the bread out completely given my activity level. |

Master 1397 Granvile, Ohio | Subject: RE: Body Composition Challenge Probably don't need to cut out the bread completely, but if you added some protein and/or healthy fats to the bread and carrots, it woud be more filling and healthier for you. |
