I'm going for Indian food tonight....I'm pre-confessing to eating Naan bread, as it's a sin to not eat naan when eating Indian food!  I don't see any way around it!

You are correct, there is a special place in hell for people who don't eat Naan bread with Indian food. Enjoy!

146.6 basically maintained (down 0.2) - which given that I went to the inauguration and my schedule was hellish and I was fighting some sort of virus is fine.

Checking in at 212, down from 216 at the beginning.

Kudos to all for sticking with it, almost through the first month of the year! Keep going!

Did 700 yrds swimming and 3 mile run this morning.

I was soooo yummy, but so painful after.  Within 30 minutes of getting home my tummy starting making noise and not feeling so well at all.  Better today, but it was worth the pain.  Last time I ate Indian food was in the Fall.

Hanging in there.
Congrats to all you losers!

Robin,
I'm counting cals which is how I know I'm getting about 1100-1200 cals/day. Adding what I think is enough to get through workouts for now. Just getting started, no heavy training.
I'm assuming half a protein shake before and some small bar after should compensate without undoing the weightloss thing.
I want this to be sustainable, so I'm not letting myself get too hungry without grabbing a seaweed salad, 2 ozs. avocado, half cup of beans or 11 almonds - whoo hoo partay! When I write it down it looks like I'm eating too much to claim to be on a juice fast!

I was 137 on Friday which is down 3 total from the beginning of the challenge.  Have started running and weight training again so may gain a bit in the next couple weeks (as I always do when restarting exercise after a layoff).

Got room for one more?? I started training again Jan 1st after a year or so layoff. Down 10 lbs so far from Jan 1st

Current weight...pleasingly plump
Mini goal...eat better run lots be back under 200 by the end of Feb and maybe 180 by May

Long term goals...log all of my workouts, stay active all year and and injury free, run at least 100 miles every month this year. Be back to race weight of 170 and be under 5:30 for Augusta 70.3 in Sept.

I need help. I need someone to share some paleo type recipes with me that are short on price and green leafy things. Any suggestions?

BTW, I laid down 14.7 miles total this weekend. Managed to even pull of a 10K PR by 23 MINUTES!

Well I had some disciplinary breakdowns over the weekend at the hunt.  This place is a "hunting resort" meaning they have full on meals cooked by trained chefs and I am here to tell you after walking fields all day and shooting birds, my stomach thought my throat had been cut so I went all in.  I have all week to work and eat right to minimize the damage done over 4 meals of some of the most delicious foods I've had.

Sad that I went a little crazy, but no time for a pity party I've got miles to put behind me.

www.fastpaleo.com is where I get all my recipes so far.  I've taken over cooking dinner in the house so at least one meal a day is paleo.

There are also some others out there but I am exhausting this one first.  I print out the recipes.  Cook them up and if they are good and go over fairly well with the family then into the "Paleo Binder" they go.  If not well received, or good, or too difficult to make...well then its the trash can for those guys.

Good luck.

X2

Embrace the vegetables.  They aren't as bad as you remember them being when we were kids.  In addition to all the valuable vitamins/minerals/nutrients in them there is an added bonus.  These things are low calorie fillers.  The more you eat of these the less calorie dense foods you'll consume.  You will feel fuller having consumed less calories overall leading to more rapid weight loss.

Do i get kicked out if weigh myself on Mondays instead of Friday? I started weighing in on Monday mornings at the beginning of Jan... kind of keeps me motivated to eat better on the weekends knowing I have to hop on the scale Monday first thing.

Down 3 more lbs from last Monday now at 222lbs, on track to be under 220 by the end of Jan, hopefully close to or under 200 by the end of Feb...we'll see!?

Can't do it.  The flavors and textures disgust me.  I can pack away green beans all day long, but anthing else green is a no go (except apples).  I won't even eat green bananas.

Eventually, I'll be in a position where I can easily eat 7 or 8 small meals throughout the day.  Until then, I have to figure a way to make 3 or 4 meals a day work.

BigShow - 2013-01-28 11:56 PM excuse me Dsand, can venison be substituted for lamb on Peleo meals?

Absolutely.  Preference is for wild game over any store bought meat.  Most folks just can't handle the "gamey-ness" of it at many meals.  Wild game has a much different flaovr over your typical proteins.  Even grass fed beef has a whole new flavor profile vs. the mass produced feedlot/slaughterhouse beef on most store shelves these days.  But yeah, sub out meats, flavor to taste....play around with it, enjoy it.

I am making turkey meatloaf muffins tonight, should be interesting.  Called for chicken, but I had shredded chicken stuffed bell peppers last night with a califlour rice so I am looking for some variety.

Don, I just made a Paleo meatloaf, too funny!  I used ground turkey and pork.  Sometimes I substitute buffalo meat instead, yum!

Gah!  Had a horrible weekend.  I don't even want to confess how much or what I ate.  All I know is that by Monday morning, I felt awful.  By the end of the weekend, I was up a few pounds.  Back on track yesterday and today.  Although, I just had a bite-sized Snickers.  On the bright side, my training is going well.  50/50...I'll take it for now.
