Banana, cup of coffee, and a few multi-vitamin's....

Lunch will be a whole different game-  MEXICAN (I am a sucker for chips and salsa!)

Side note:
What do you guys think of the new Kit!?

Looks cool for them, but not something I would personally buy.  I did see a few cool shirts that lance was wearing that I liked.

Kyla - I practiced some self-restraint and only purchased a pair of tri shorts and a t shirt. It wasn't easy, but I do need to have money for food this month.

Andy - I am definitely going to do some drills during tomorrow's swim. Thanks for the advice on that. Can you recommend any good speed drills or form drills?

Lisa - I decided to lay off the biking a little, but not totally. I want to focus on my swim/walk (I started on those from scratch - whereas I do have a bit of cycling endurance under my belt) until I'm fairly comfortable I can do the distances by race time. I am, however, going on a long ride this weekend on my pretty pretty girliefied Specialized bike

There are four or five drills that I use consistently now - catchup drill, fist drill, single arm, finger tip drag, and kick drill.  Oh yeah, don't forget stroke count drills.  Most of these drills are described here.  But a google search or you tube search will probably give you video to look at.  I generally do the drills for 25 yards or so and will combine a couple into a set that is repeated (this comes from swimplan.com) like 25 single arm / 25 kick / 25 drag / 25 swim - repeat 4 to 6 times.  Try swimplan.com for some workouts, I have been happy with it so far...

Man...I've already been doing these. Swimplan.com has me do them. I'm still slow, but hey....at least I'm improving. Will continue with the drills.

Yet another question: My ears are starting to hurt from all the water trapped in them. What do I do? Should I wear ear plugs each time I swim, or will the water eventually drain?

I put a solution of equal parts white vinegar and rubbing alchohol.  I put the drops in after I swim, especially if it is a new pool.  Let the drops sit for a little bit and then tilt your head so it drains out.

These drops do not really cure "swimmer's ear"(ear infection) put it should prevent it.

When I first saw the jerseys I did not like them at all.  Seeing them as a complete outfit, they look better.  Like Tony, I wouldn't buy one.  I only like to wear cut out tri tops--I find them cooler and they do a better job of showing off the shoulders! Wink

Looks better while being raced than standing in.  My first thought was not may other sponsor logos, RS must be footing a pretty big bill.  Here is the new ride....

OMG, that sounds so delicious right now!  I only had time for 2 pieces of toast and a banana this morning and my stomach is so grumbly right now!  ARGH...  1.5 more hours til lunch.

Interesting note from my workout this morning.  I had a CT workout this morning where I had to really pay attention to the spin scan numbers (try to keep pedal stroke for left and right legs more symmetrical, and more efficient) and do it with both high rpm and high power.  For the first time, my CT did not scoot off the exercise mat onto the carpet.  I believe my right side is stronger and more dominant, so I really had to concentrate on keeping it equal.  Very tough but I am starting to get it   Makes me happy to have that feedback...   I am much more even on hills than flats, is that odd?

Trina--two words--EAR PLUGS.  A really good investment for swimmers

Kim--I have the same issue--SS and ATA numbers with any elevation are better....I also have a much stronger left, than right leg. Doing non-bike exercises to try to change that because I think this will hurt more than my biking in the long term.

Tracy--I love everything on the new TREK bikes. Wish I could have one!

Trina -- do NOT let the water sit in your ears... it's a sure recipe for swimmer's ear, which hurts like a mofo (easily treated but requires a trip to the doc for prescription drops = PITA). Robert's recipe is what I always used growing up (alcohol/vinegar). I have found that if I don't have any ear drops handy but can feel the water lodged in my ear and can't get it out by shaking my head, that if I just put a few drops of water in there (using my fingers) and let it slosh down and meet the water that is trapped, then I can shake it all out. Works in a pinch! I'm not very good about the alcohol/vinegar regularly, but definitely try to do it after OWS. Otherwise I just make sure there's no sloshing and I'm good to go!

Love reading what people eat for breakfast. What do the rest of you eat?

My pre-workout meal is a small bowl of granola w/soy milk (and coffee if there's time). Post workout and about 355 days a year my breakfast is a smoothie (measurements approximate):

1c nonfat plain yogurt
1/2 banana
2 tangerines in the winter (about 1/2 c fresh melon in the summer)
1/4 c frozen pineapple
1/4 c frozen raspberries or blackberries
1/2-1c frozen blueberries
splash of soy milk
1T ground flax seed
1T Green Vibrance (up to 3T if I'm feeling sick)
(1/4 to 1/2 c rolled oats if post a super-duper hard workout)

YUM!!

My biggest issue is that I always dislike smoothies in the winter due to the cold part.

My meals recently have been these 100 calorie whole wheat deals that look like a smashed bun/english muffin, but are really good.  Toss on some Skippy Natural PB and some honey.

Otherwise I had been making omlets at work in the microwave.  I am really trying to watch my cholesterol intake and egg yolks are EEEEKKKKK!!  Most of the time my omlets consist of 1 egg and 3 whites or egg beaters or something.

Before all my buildings at work started to move to the new location, our cafeteria had a killer bfast burrito and they would make with egg whites for me, i miss them!
