I've got a big day tomorrow, my wife's gone away for a conference and I've got to get the kids down to Mooloolaba by 6:30am for their triathlon then rack my bike, meet some friends, sort out a mini pump, vote in the state election - compulsory to vote here - get my hair cut, take the kids to meet their friends at the movies, walk the dog, put new elasticated laces in my new Kinvara's, go for a BBQ then get to bed early ready for my tri on Sunday!

There's going to be 6000 triathletes competing this weekend and the weathers looking fantastic, apparently Macca's competing!

Emma Snowshill's making a bit of a comeback too, she's tiny when you meet her in real life!

Sounds like a typical day for us "non-working" moms!!

But seriously -- have fun and have a great race!! You and the kids will have a blast!

That reminds me, I need to get some of those.  Didn't bother last year for the IM but if I'm raing sprints I guss that would be an important piece of equipment.  Besides, it's a great excuse to go shopping!

I'm actually hoping for rain tomorrow to cancel lacrosse and t-ball, and I'd even take a thunder storm Sunday AM to cancel my race so I have the whole weekend off.  Is that bad?

x2.  I've done the same thing before.  Hate to wish against the kids schedules, but down time is good from time to time.

We are suppose to  get thunderstorms coming in tonight and lasting all weekend.  I'll send them your way Smile

Have a good weekend everyone!

Just found out my tri club is going to offer a swim clinic toward the end of April.  I'll be able to get a video of my swim from above and below water, and have someone give me individual instruction and drills to work on!  Woo Hoo and for only $37.50!!

Good luck this weekend racers: John, David  (did I miss anyone??).

What is your longest treadmill session?  I have to do 17.5 miles this weekend and it is supposed to be thunder and lightning storms all weekend.  I am seriously considering the TM b/c I cannot skip it but the thought of that much time of TM leaves me with a bit dread.

I've only run 3 miles on a treadmill in the past 10 months.  Just can't do it.  I know a guy that did a long run for marathon training--20ish.  So, it can be done, just not by me Wink  I'd say turn up the tunes and just get it done!

Trevor:  Have a great time in Mexico with the fam.  Sounds like a great time.

We should have some racers getting it done!!

Thanks for sharing that.  I think I am going to see how the weather changes, or doesn't, and leave the TM as a last resort.

Rachel, I ran an 18 mile treadmill training run (due to a blizzard) getting ready for the Boston Marathon. I know it increased my mental toughness. Maybe you can break it up into a few sessions with short breaks. Good luck : )

Foot's hanging in there, can't be on it long before it aches.  The hardest thing is finding shoes to wear for work that don't hurt it.  Soon I might break down and wear tennis shoes with the work outfits and tell people to just deal.

TM running - ugh.  Nothing beyond 5 for me but if memory serves Suzy pulled a 20 miler once.  I don't know how you people do it.

26m, a mere 4 hours.   I did many long runs on the TM when training for both Bostons.  Set up a full length mirror to watch your form, a fan or two, wear your fuel belt and an ipod if you need it.  It really isn't that bad once you get going.  The one other thing that I would do is play with elevation and speed a bit. Mimics the outdoors, sort of and gives your legs a break.

Did an 18 miler in just about 3 hours this winter.  It was brutal, but at least I can say I did it. Good luck with it,  Rachel

I've been having some knee issues, specifically on the bike.  Mainly when I'm pulling up.  I think it might be a fit issue, so I'm going to see the guy that did my fit in the summer.  Really hoping that it solves the problem.

It happened a couple weeks ago, and I took almost a week off biking and running.  That seemed to fix it, but I can't just take time off every couple weeks when it happens again.  This time, at least, it isn't as bad yet, and running doesn't seem to make it any worse, and might even make it feel better.

Frustrating though.

I'm supposed to do a brick today.  The knee feels alright at the moment (since I haven't rode since Wed, and even then really short), so I'm debating whether to do it or not.  Going for the fit adjustment tomorrow.

Hmmm, wonder if it is a seat height issue? a cleat issue?  Smart to have it checked out.

If it were me, I would try the brick, but sometimes I'm stupid.  If there is any knee pain, abort.

I knew I should have stayed away from any race with "hills" in the name, but I thought hey, 10 laps of 1.5 mi with only one real hill on it, how bad could it be.  Hill wasn't that steep but steep enough and the pace was super high.

I was doing ok but starting to hurt a bit.  Thought I heard someone say 2 laps to go so I thought to myself, I can hang on for 2 more laps I'll be fine.  Got to the start finish saw 4 more laps on the board and my mind had a quick conversation with the legs and before I knew it they agreed to shut it down, slowly sifted to the back and out of the pack.

Didn't get lapped, had 1 guy in the top 5 and 2 guys on the team in the top 10 (no thanks to anything I did but seems good to mention).

I need to figure out how to ride harder without HR spiking so much.  I look at all of my rides and I seem to spend more time in Z5 than anything else, followed very closely by Z4, very little Z3-Z1, even on long rides.  At the top of the first hill I was already hitting my max HR and there is only so much time you can sit at that level without blowing up.

Pushed your limits and probably learned something.  Sounds like a beneficial ride.  I blow up REALLY fast in z5 on the bike but can hold it much longer on the run.  Know your limits then push them a little further right?

13 Weeks to CdA... holy crap.
