Expert 790![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!I just had my best run ever! On January 17 I ran a 1:59:58 in the Houston Half, and today I ran 12.84 in 1:46:24. (8:17 pace). It's not a PR but if I would have been paying attention I would have ran the extra .26 miles and crushed my PR. Running is NOT my strength so I am extremely excited about this pace. |

Extreme Veteran 689![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Emmanem - 2010-03-22 12:36 PM Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I'm gonna check to see if we have any wetsuit rental places nearby and then online. I did 1200m in the pool today and managed several 50m freestyle and I'm pretty confident in my backstroke so maybe that can be my "safety". James AKA "Mr. I'm awesome at all sports and can beat you in anything" has challenged me to a swim competition (800m) so maybe that'll be extra motivation to really work hard at this swimming thing. We're really competitive with each other so there's no way I can let him beat me. He has decided to run a 5k with me in April to pace me Honestly I think you'll be fine. if you can already do 1200m in a workout that's pretty good. Have you tried just swimming 800m straight (using all strokes)? For my first tri (sprint) I only trained for 7 weeks (and I was in horrible shape) and was only able to swim 800m by combining breast and freestyle during my training. During the race, I did a lot of the swim on my back and like what everyone says when you're in a wetsuit it makes things easier, especially when you need to just float. |

I did ice it last night and have an appt with my ART guy Thursday morning. In good news - It is a DOUBLE birthday day in our house today!! Brendan Patrick was born 3/23/95 at 4:27pm after 22 hours of labor weighing a tiny 5 pounds 12 ounces and turns 15 today! Lilia Joy was born 3/23/07 at 6:02am at 9 pounds 3 ounces after 6 hours of labor, she is 3 today! From the time Brendan found out I was pregnant and due 3/20 he told me he wanted the baby born on his birthday. We don't plan these things so I suggested he talk with Jesus which he says he did just about every night. Ken woke him up on his 12th birthday shouting 'Happy Birthday, you have a new baby' Brendan was over the moon! |

Veteran 104![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Whew! Finally caught up with all the posts I've missed lately. Lots of impressive runs and bike rides by you all. Thanks for the inspires for my race last weekend. As there isn't a race report format for pentathlons, I put one up in my training log. Interesting fact that I forgot to include: a cold front came through over the weekend, and at start time (10am) it was 6 degrees. Cloudless sky and no wind though, and within 30 seconds of the gun going off my furnace was blasting. That race got me really jazzed to do more x-country ski racing next winter--I imagine it's pretty good off-season cross training for triathlon. Eric: there's a guy in Boulder who sells bikes on Ebay, and he has last year's Kuota Kalibur w/Ultegra for $2299. A pretty good deal, unless your bike shop can get you a better one. |
