Plainsman AU - 2011-02-18 12:21 PM Trevor, you are more of a man than I if you were on your bike at -9 degrees this morning.

Not to rub it in or anything, but on my 2.5 hr. ride this afternoon, it was approaching 75 degrees.  Send some of that cooler weather down here, I hate it when sweat drips on the inside of your shades.

Serious question though...  I spent most of the 2.5 hours in aero today, and my frigging neck and shoulders just couldn't take it anymore.  Holy crap.  I am not even in a very aggressive position but looking forward and up seems to be placing alot of strain on the neck.

Any of you have any tricks up your sleeve, or is it just going to take a little time in the saddle to get the body used to?

Oh, cry me a f'ing river already!!!!!!

My neck gets crampy in aero when I'm not as used to it. I think it gets better with time, but seeing as I haven't ridden the tri bike outside in forever I can't comment. Inside on the trainer I am switching positions all the time, but have found for longer stretches my tush is much, much happier being aero, so there is that!!

Trevor -- I quit smoking yesterday. Time for a new picture.

John -- thanks for the link... there is hope!!! I can't wear fancy Victoria's Secret bras cuz, well, yeah, cuz. That said, I hate wearing bras (which is another reason why I loved Bree Wee's blog the other day, although she waited WAAAAAY too long to take hers off, IMO), so the fact that fancy ones don't fit me doesn't bother me one bit. (Er, that would be one itty, bitty bit!)

Not sure when/where/how I became such a cougar. I guess now would be the wrong time to tell you about the cute little bag boy at my local grocery store who is training for Vineman?! Yeah, I check up on his training when I see hiim. Ha!!

Edit: After reading Tracy's post, I think I remember the woman who did my initial bike fit telling me that if I had really bad neck/shoulder pain to consider elevating the aero pads a bit. Can't remember if we did that or not eventually, but something to consider in the fit department...

barry. could that be your issue.

keep riding bro.

tahrens - 2011-02-18 3:46 PM the first couple rides back in aero are hard for me as well.  If it doesn't  get better after that I know it's a fit problem and I have it looked at.

to many thoughts about this.  AWESOME thoughts.  but still to many to write down.

i think i'll bake a cake about it... ;-)

Really.... It was 45 and I was out running and had this same issue with sweat driping on the inside of my shades. I can't imagine what I am going to do when it gets to 75. Run naked maybe...or in a thong.

Well I am not a Fast runner.

But today I went out with my friend/workout partner for a run. She runs..well twice as fast as me any given day.

But I managed to hammer out 5k at just under 30 mins for the first time in my life. The first km was 6:50 warming up, the next 4 were 5:35min/km roughly.... Funny slightly under a year ago I started running and I ran like 9min/km and thought I was going to die. Mid summer I was running 7:30/km and thought I wasn't going to make it any faster..

Today is my first sub 6:00/km average for a full 5km... I have a smile from ear to ear. Previous fast time was 33:10 for 5km

WOOT WOOT......

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

This would be the only reason I would consider moving to Canada.  To be able to run sub 8  per mile.  Mins/km sound so much more impressive than mins/m
