lol I see that shopping for a new bike for you seems more complicated than getting a new car.

evondo - 2010-03-23 12:17 PM Thanks, good to know. Unfortunately neither the Kaliber or Kueen-K fit me well. Kaliber wasn't aggressive enough and the Kueen-K required too much leg length which I don't have.  We're onto plan C which I'll detail out tomorrow if all goes well... have another fit later today

gavisk - 2010-03-23 12:04 PM Whew! Finally caught up with all the posts I've missed lately.  Lots of impressive runs and bike rides by you all.

Thanks for the inspires for my race last weekend.  As there isn't a race report format for pentathlons, I put one up in my training log.  Interesting fact that I forgot to include:  a cold front came through over the weekend, and at start time (10am) it was 6 degrees.  Cloudless sky and no wind though, and within 30 seconds of the gun going off my furnace was blasting.  That race got me really jazzed to do more x-country ski racing next winter--I imagine it's pretty good off-season cross training for triathlon.

Eric: there's a guy in Boulder who sells bikes on Ebay, and he has last year's Kuota Kalibur w/Ultegra for $2299.  A pretty good deal, unless your bike shop can get you a better one.

Thursday, like a week & 2 days.  And I made the appt at least a week and a half ago, I think.  My isurance is changing on 4/1....current/old insurance doesn't cover any ART providers here but thankfully new insurance does.  So I figured instead of paying a hefty fee out of pocket, I'd suck it up & wait a couple weeks when it's covered.

Newtons1st - 2010-03-23 2:15 PM That seems like a long ways off. Thurs like 2 days or a week+2days?

KelliD - 2010-03-23 10:19 AM Oohh...double the birthday fun. Happy birthday Brendan and Lilia

Hope the ITB is feeling better!  My ART appt is set for next Thursday morning...can't wait!

KeriKadi - 2010-03-23 10:37 AM Emma - You can totally do this.  I sidestroked at least half of my first tri!
Justine - NICE run!
Nicki & Tif - Do the new wetsuits mean we are going to see you at the lake soon?

My run yesterday aggrivated my IT band Frown  I was really hoping I was over/through this.  I did ice it last night and have an appt with my ART guy Thursday morning.

In good news - It is a DOUBLE birthday day in our house today!!  Brendan Patrick was born 3/23/95 at 4:27pm after 22 hours of labor weighing a tiny 5 pounds 12 ounces and turns 15 today!  Lilia Joy was born 3/23/07 at 6:02am at 9 pounds 3 ounces after 6 hours of labor, she is 3 today!
From the time Brendan found out I was pregnant and due 3/20 he told me he wanted the baby born on his birthday.  We don't plan these things so I suggested he talk with Jesus which he says he did just about every night.  Ken woke him up on his 12th birthday shouting 'Happy Birthday, you have a new baby'  Brendan was over the moon!

Hi Gang!

Keri- Happy happy birthday to your little ones.  That is SO cool to have the same birth date.  I'm totally jealous.

Sorry the ITB band is being cranky, I hope it straightens itself out soon.

Justine- Nice job on the run!  You're so spppeeeedddyyyy.  It's going to be fun to read your race report I bet.

Eric- you're totally holding out on us.  What's plan C?

KelliD- Good luck next week!

As for me, nothign new to report really.  Chris and I set the alarm at 5 this morning to get up and workout before our day started.  I woke up around 2 to pee and evidently changed my alarm to 7.  When Chris' went off at 5 he turned it off and promplly went back to bed.   I got a workout in over lunch but he probably won't, so I'm going to try to coax him into taking a walk with me tonight. It is SO beautiful outside.  I'm thinking about promising s.ex if he goes.

So yep, that's it for me.  Hi.  Missed you guys.

Ok, no, seriously dude, you are going to have to give it back.  I have a half a day's work left to do, meeting with the big state boss, and a workout left to do.  If you still need it I can loan it to you again at say 7PM my time.

loeber - 2010-03-23 9:50 AM I'm afraid it was me. I woke up 20 minutes before the alarm and was waiting at the pool for them to open the gates at 5:45. and again to get into the pool at 6:00. Hat trick for me this week great ride on Sunday, fastest interval run yesterday and a great swim this morning. Thanks for the inspires and FB posts group they really help.

So 3 weeks ago I went to Atlanta for a Sales Competition for marketing.  I didn't compete but I went to the career fair.... anyway they told us they would reimburse us for food.  I thought we would turn in our receipts and they would give us the money we spent back.  I only bought about $15 worth of food while i was there and today I got an email that I was getting reimbursed $66 for food Apparently they just give us a set amount for lunch and dinner so I just made $50 and I got a $50 gift card today with my points from my credit card and it's all going into my triathlon fund

OK everyone its about that time of year when running you might encounter a T-Storm/Rain Shower. Always be mindfull of where the Port-o-potys are. This from my logs last year.

"I got up at the crack of 8:30 and decided to get in my 8 miler today. Was off to a great start. Was feeling great and all was going good. I see up ahead in the road there is a large grey wall of water coming my way. Huge down pour out of nowhere. Today also happens to be the first time I have my Iphone for music. So I had to think fast and the best thing was a port o potty about 40 yards up. So I sprint there and jump inside. Good thing for me is I have no sense of smell. I call the wife to come get the phone and I would just finish the run in the rain. As I was in there I took a look at the radar and a huge line of dark red rain was coming so I just jumped in the car and called it a day, "

The wife didint care to much for the smell of 4 miles + POP stench.

Fit is done, bike is purchased so I can spill the beans... Fuji D-6 with a HED Jet 6 front, HED Jet 9 w/disc cover & PowerTap Pro+ rear, all Dura-ace components instead of default SRAM.

This is going to be a race only bike, I've had a very hard time keeping my current bike up and running. It seems every time I near a race something needs to be fixed, tweaked or replaced. Now I don't have to worry about breaks not working, bearings clicking or PowerTap not working (all of which have happened to me in a race).  It's going to be a few weeks before the rear wheel is in but the rest should be built up by this weekend I hope. I'll post pics when I get them but for now here's the default configuration...

OK. next time you have one of those "why did I marry you?" fights, pull this out of the memory banks.  Any woman that comes to rescue her man's iPhone, then lets him ride in her car smelling of POP is a saint. Sorry, but this says far more about your wife than clever t-storm strategies. Kiss

Not sure it'll help much with my speed but piece of mind for sure  P2SL has treated me well the past 2 years and I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of her. The SRAM rival components that come with the D6 setup will be put on my P2SL.

Gels: which do you use?  I had been using Honey Stinger but I decided on my last bike ride that they are indeed bugging my stomach.  I kind of suspected so and after the last few times I believe it has been confirmed.  I use to use Cliff Shots but I tried a gross Espresso one not so long ago and it was sooooo gross it turned me off them for a while.  I just ordered some Hammer ones and some Chocolate #9 (http://www./).  I am really excited to test the Chocolate #9.  In case you all haven't notice I am a little fond of my chocolate.

Gosh darn it, they edited out my link.  Just google it.  It is the first site that comes up

That will be interesting I would think going back and forth between the two components.  But sure is cheaper then buying a new set of components.

I rode the SRAM components and couldn't really tell the difference, it's just the derailers/shifters. Shifting was a little louder and 'softer' than Shimano but besides that no difference in ride quality what-so-ever. Just swapped the components since I already have the dura-ace, might as well take advantage of the lighter components. I wouldn't have purchased the duraace over ultegra if they didn't come with my bike though, not worth the money in my opinion.

evondo - 2010-03-23 6:11 PM Not sure it'll help much with my speed but piece of mind for sure  P2SL has treated me well the past 2 years and I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of her. The SRAM rival components that come with the D6 setup will be put on my P2SL.

bzgl40 - 2010-03-23 8:00 PM Sweet ride Eric.  Expect some speedy races from you.  What are you going to put on your training bike for components?

That will be interesting I would think going back and forth between the two components.  But sure is cheaper then buying a new set of components.

We went to Red Lobster (Brendan's choice) for dinner then came home to open presents and eat brownies the girls and I made today.

VERY nice ride Eric!

I've been doing some prelimary searches looking at a new tri bike for me and I'm not finding much in my price range.
Anybody want to buy an industrial embroidery machine???

bzgl40 - 2010-03-23 8:14 PM Gels: which do you use?  I had been using Honey Stinger but I decided on my last bike ride that they are indeed bugging my stomach.  I kind of suspected so and after the last few times I believe it has been confirmed.

My tummy can be a bit sensitive and I really like the Gu brand for gels and their chomps which are kind of like shot blocks but different packaging.
