kkcbelle - 2012-07-18 12:24 AM It may not be Wednesday yet where I sit, but it's close enough!! In Suzy's absence, I get to ask the all-important Wednesday question: Who is ready to throw down this weekend? Tell us about your race and your plan for success!! Not racing? Hmmm... What is your favorite dessert?! Favorite post-race meal? Favorite book? Tell us something about you we don't already know!

I'm not racing this weekend. We have a big family reunion to go to.

As for desserts I like fruit most.  I like Brownies, and if I buy mixes the older boys will make them for me. The kids always beg me to make them chocolate chip cookies and if we have no chips snickerdoddle cookies.

Post race meal, Tacos with lots of salsa, esp. if my Brother in Law makes them. He makes the best tacos.

My favorite book as a child was Summer of the Monkeys. My older brother and sister read it to us a chapter a night. It was awesome. And then I read it again and again about a million times.

Something that you don't already know. My big news. I'm going to be in Florida in November. Endurance Sports contacted me a couples of weeks ago.  They had a IM Florida spot and I decided to go for it. IM Florida 2012 will be my first Ironman and I'm hoping just to finish.

Tiana

WOOHOO!!!  That is awesome news!!

ROGER THAT!!!!   we're all staying at shores of panama.. you need more details, fire away!

can't wait to meet you!!!!

I'm staying at Laketown Wharf (that where Endurance Sports has their package). I looked up the addresses Laketown Wharf 9902 S Thomas Dr and Shores of Panama 9900 S Thomas Dr.  From the addresses they should next door.

When is everyone getting into Panama City?  I'm not sure yet if I'm going to get there on Wednesday or Thursday.

Tiana

No Racing for me.  I have nothing planned until Cyclo-Cross Season Starts in Sept.  Hopefully, I will get some miles on the bike between finishing the kitchen remodel and I really need to start running a little to get ready for CX.

1.  Favorite Dessert -  "Cookie Dough Brownies" ..... Chocolate Brownies with a Cookie Dough flavored topping on top. Only Cinnamon Coffee cake is better, but that is not really a dessert.

2.  Favorite post race meal -  Anything Salty with a BIG COKE!  I am really hooked on that Coke at the end of a long workout. I actually have started to crave it towards the end of longer workouts.  If the craving is Mental or Physical, I don't care!  I just want that coke.

3.  Favorite book -  Fifty Shades of Gray. I have never actually read it, but I sure enjoyed it when my Bride did!  Embarassed  Trust me, if this book in not in your significant others library, it would make a great gift ......  for any occasion.

4.  Something you don't already know about me- Maybe, I too have been in this group for too long, but I don't think I ever admitted that I have been accused of having a bad case of "Middle Child Syndrome" by others in my family.

Good Luck Racing Peeps!  REPRESENT!!!

Congrats to the most recent Ironman enrollee!!!  Make sure you remember to train to Slap Fatty on the A$$ when you pass him on the run!!!

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks again for the great MG support as I raced my first HIM! I had so much fun out there, which you can read about in my RR. I lumped around on Monday and Tuesday and today I today I was feeling lost with this extra free time so went out for a run.

Desserts: I love cake, any flavor: vanilla, chocolate, beet, red velvet, birthday, almond, spice. All flavors! I don't like frosting, though.

Something you don't know: I'm a HUGE Chicago Bulls fan.

Must share a story. Two years ago for Valentine's Day, I decided I wanted to make my kids a Red Velvet cake. I'm a baking snob -- no boxes or mixes here EVER. And it should come as no surprise to many that I'm kind-of OCD about eating good, whole foods. So I did not want to make a red velvet cake that was laden with red dye. I wanted to do it the old-fashioned way like they did pre-food coloring, and that was using beets for the color. It was actually tricky to find a good recipe -- most red velvet cake recipes go straight to the food coloring. But I found some recipes that relied on beets, and eventually found a recipe that I thought would be a hit. Well... the cake was red -- I'll give you that. But really, it tasted pretty nasty. Husband admitted it was gross. Thing 1 wouldn't have any of it beyond the frosting. Thing 2, bless her heart, said, "Mom, it's really, REALLY good!! I LOVE it!!!" Well, that's what she said, but she didn't finish her piece. Nor did she want any when I offered her some the next day. (This, from a girl who has never met a dessert she doesn't love!) Finally, after much coaxing and persuading, I got her to fess up: "Mom, honestly? I don't care for it." But she was so sweet, she didn't want to hurt my feelings. To this day, that beet cake is the standard used when we are trying to discern if she is being nice or if she truly likes something. Sweet gal, that one!!

No racing for me, we get the new puppy Saturday so big excitement in our house!!!

- favourite desert: creme brûlée
- post race meal steak and fries with a bottle of Shiraz
- book: The World According to Garp
- Something you don't know about me: I once visited Afghanistan during the Russian occupation and nearly got shot down during the approach to Kabul then got shelled with artillery on landing. Funny thing is I thought I was flying to India until the plane stopped in Moscow and filled up with Red Army soldiers in full uniform! I didn't tell my parents for years! Happy backpacking days!

No racing here. Good luck racers!

1. favorite dessert?  Probably warm, ooey-gooey brownies made with real dark chocolate.

2. post race meal?  A juicy burger, a couple of crispy and salty fries, and a beer, preferably a heifeweizen.

3. Favorite book?  This is such a hard one to answer. Probably Tale of Two Cities or Pride and Prejudice.

4. Something you don't know... I lived in Greece for a summer while working as a mother's helper. My "vacation" was spent sailing the Ionian Sea.

Congrats Tiana on the IM spot!

No racing here.

Dessert: Sahara (actually our usual dessert is red wine and some cheese, but on the sweeter side, try this: take a couple small scoops of vanilla ice cream and pour about an ounce of your booze of choice over the top....I have tried tequilla, bourbon, scotch, rum, vodka and several liqueurs....they all worked great.  Note: small scoops of ice cream and a good size shot of booze.)

post-race meal: it is usually a couple hours before I can eat and then it is usually just some noodle dish.  Dinner later on needs to be something on the more spicy side along with some beers and wine.

books: Bram Stoker's "Dracula" and Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings".

what you don't know: my birthday is this Saturday.

I've already let Linda and Fatty know this, but I am not going to be able to make it to IM Florida for the big dance. I plan to inform the owner of the condo I was planning to rent today.  If anyone is interested in it, this is the unit I selected.  It is the same place they are staying (seperate units!).

On the bright side, we received a load of rain last night.  The first in over 50 days.   With it has come a respite from the heat.  The plants are happy!

Something you don't know... since I'm the new guy there is a lot but I will start with I am father to 5 daughters and grandpa to 3 grand daughters.  No boys in this family

Back from Ragnar! Severely sleep-deprived!! Crippled quads!! But I had THE MOST FUN TIME EVER!!! Best running race I've ever done, bar none. Details later. Our team did awesome, averaging 8:50 over 200 hilly miles, and finishing in the top 30%. The winning team averaged 5:47's -- crazy!!! I know Chet did this earlier this year, so he can attest to how incredible the experience is. If you ever get asked to do this or have ever considered putting together a team, DO IT!!!!

RR later!!

I think RP, Steve, and I have all but decided to bag our Olympic triathlon tomorrow. RP sees no point. Steve is very drunk. We are all hurtin' and exhausted. But we are all happy and have the COOLEST new bottle opener ever, so life is fabulous!!!

Kyla, the mg was on hold until you got back!  lol  Very quiet around here.  Contrats on an awesome race.  It sounds epic.

I'm not racing this weekend, and I didn't get around to answering the mid-week questions but I do have a new book ordered (thanks Dino) :-)

Post race meal:  chicken tacos and frijoles--none of that tex-mex kind of stuff, but the real deal.  With a Negra Modelo to wash it down.

Book:  Born to Run

Dessert: Chocolate Chip Cookies

Something you don't know about me: I grew up on a dairy farm: I can milk a cow, drive a tractor, bale hay, and I LOVE power tools!  It was a great way to grow up.  My two older brothers were a pain in the a$$, but that's another story.
