So sorry to hear about your stepdad!  Thoughts and prayers are with you & your family.  Hope everything is ok.

Houstonrider - 2010-03-26 8:40 PM Well today was an unexpected off day. My step dad was rushed to hospital by ambulance and I drove my mom to the hospital. When I arrive at their house the paramedics were there and he was incoherent with a bp of 185 over 158 and  a hr below 50. He is stable but they are going to continue to run tests. Please keep him in your prayers.

AWESOME Job Jessica!

Nice job on the PR!

jezzieswims - 2010-03-28 2:45 PM Oceanside went much better than I expected. I think that taking it easy with the last round of bronchitis made sure that I was rested come race day. I bested my time from last year by over 10 minutes and really enjoyed most of the day and didn't get worked up about my pacing. It's amazing what no pressure will do for a race.

Justin, glad to hear that things are going a little better with your step dad.

Killed it in the 15k today!!  My goal was 1:20 (8:35 pace), which I thought was kind of a reach and possibly unrealistic.  Finished in 1:17:27 (8:19 pace).  I'm thrilled

Emmanem - 2010-03-28 4:43 PM Thanks!!  It was such a great experience.  I can't wait to do it again next year and crush my time from this year Laughing  I'm still on such a high from it... definite proof I can do anything I put my mind to and hard work does pay off.

Emmanem - 2010-03-27 5:08 PM Back from my 10k.  Had a great time and reached my goal of running it in under 1:20!

Great job Emma!  Congratulations.  I remember when we started you were thinking 3 miles as a stretch.  Look how far you've come in just a few months.  Oh, and the Cooper River Bridge Run is a great 10k.

Yes you can!  You are AWESOME!!!

I had the 4 mile version of Kelli's race today, I did ok but didn't reach my goal..  Had a goal of 30min (7:30/mile) but finish 31min on the dot (7:45/mile).  I basically had to have everything work perfectly to reach my goal and unfortunately the hills and crowd/congestion kicked my a$$.

Justin, hope your stepdad is doing better.

Racers, nice job this weekend!

I've been having a hard time getting workouts in between work and trying to get my house ready to sell.  It went on the market Friday, and was under contract by 4pm today for full asking price!  Now we're saying "Oh crap, that's too fast! Where are we going to live?"

Quick question:  anybody have advice/recommendations for clip-on aerobars for my road bike?  I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to purchase a TT bike before my race in June, so I thought clip-ons might be the ticket.  Ideas?

I like the Profile T2+ because of how configurable they are. Only problem I've had is the arm rest pads break on me since they're plastic.  I've heard if you double up the plastic pads it'll be fine or find some metal pads (which is what I have) and you'll be good to go.

Nice racing everyone - helps the motivation seeing everyone start to race again.  It won't be till June that I'm doing anything here in the North.

My suggestion for clipons would be the Profile Jammer GT.  My bikefitter had recommended these and I couldn't be happier.  Multiple ways that they can be adjusted to suit your comfort level.

Good Morning everyone!

I haven't had a chance to read thru all the posts yet, but I skimmed and have two important things to say first.

#1- GREAT job on your races this weekend everyone!  You should all be VERY proud!

#2- Laughing still freaking HURTS, but not as bad as it did last week.  I'm glad I missed all the cankles talk then.  Hehe.  And seriously, does Eric have cankles?  Now I'm curious.  I know he's all of 100 lbs of beastly polka dot masculinity and all, I'm not sure he has enough extra to have cankles?

So anyway, hi.   I'm back to the land of the living though not quite yet back to work.  I tried to update from the hospital and all but they had me on so many pain killers I only partially remember my stay there.

The short version is that I had a cyst on one of my internal girly parts that ruptured and was hemmoraging internally.  To make matters worse, that irritated my appendix to the point that it was becomming a problem.  After 24 hours of monitioring and probing (and let me just tell you, and ultrasound is NOT the warm fuzzy verson that you think of when you think of babies when they're trying to get a good look at your appendix and internal girly bits), they decided they needed to remove the appendix and cautorize (sp?) the bleeding.

Once they got in there (thru my belly button no less!) the bleeding was worse than they thought.  The procedure went okay in the end, but I've lost a lot of blood.

No transfusion needed, thank god, but my red count is low and probably will be for at least a month.  So I have this lovely semi-constant light headed thing going on.  Hope that goes away sooner rather than later.

I'm feeling better today.  They said at least a week before I return to work, but i'm optomisitc to go in for at least a few hours tomorrow.  My assistant is going out of town for two weeks beginning on Friday so it would be really great if we were at least somewhat on the same page before she leaves.

I'm bruising nicely, which is weird since it's my belly button, but the worst is definately behind me.

So anyway, thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.  I missed you guys.

Glad you're recovering well, had us worried for a bit there! Sounds like your internal organs need some bubble wrap too, it's in the mail you should receive it shortly...

I don't believe I have cankles but we did take a picture this weekend at Justin's he might post for all to see. I think Justin's just jealous that his chicken legs are the same thickness of my wrists

Hm... I've heard of men competing over a variety of body parts, but never cankles before...

And yes, I will be buying stock in bubble wrap shortly.  Clearly, you truly can't leave home without it.

Awesome race Stan!!

The crowding at NYRR races has gotten totally ridiculous!  IMHO, the cap needs to be even lower than what it currently is.  I spent the first 2 miles of the race getting soo frustrated at all the darting & weaving, having to constantly check up bc I couldn't get around people and swearing for the hundredth time this was the last NYRR I was ever doing.  In hindsight though, the crowding in the beginning was sort of a silver lining and kept me in check....otherwise I think I would have taken off too fast.  Still not in a hurry for another race in CP though.

PS- I posted my traumatic ultrasound experience in my training log.  I said at the beginning of the post that it's a little... uh... personal, but wanted to stick the warning here too.  If you're squeamish or easily embarrassed or just don't want to know that much about me, skip reading today's entry.

It was just too funny not to chronicle.
