Awesome! Thanks! This might be just the trick.

I checked AT&T's options and I can get a whopping 125MB for $50!!! Yikes! 50 text messages for $10 and phone calls for $0.50 per minute.  With all the people we are traveling with we need to have something worked out so that we can keep in touch once we get there.

This is a great topic that a lot of us are going to have to deal with.  I have no clue what options are available for my phone and Sprint plan.  Hmm.  I have heard that people do buy prepaid phones for such trips.  Maybe we can find one online ahead of time.

I have my first tri of the season this weekend, Mooseman 70.3.  The first tri of the season is always a bit nervous.

I don't remember all the details but when we visited MT last November I took my iPhone 4s with Sprint.  I added service in Canada (cost?) to my account before leaving.  One thing to keep in mind is to turn off "roaming" and data while you are up there to prevent racking up a bunch of roaming charges continuously.   Then, when you need to you can turn roaming and data on to download emails, vm, etc.

kevinneumann - 2012-05-30 7:56 AM I'm wondering if anyone has given any thought to using their US cell phones in Canada for Mont Tremblant? I'm not a seasoned international traveler (just getting a passport now), so this is all pretty new to me. I was thinking of buying a prepaid SIM from either Rogers or Fido to use with my unlocked iPhone 3GS but that will just provide calls and texting - no data. Anyone have any advice on whether the prepaid SIM is worth it? I really can't just suck it up and pay the International roaming costs because my phone is company phone and I have no control over the bill.

For those of you that have been to Mont Tremblant, how prevalent is free WiFi?

I'm thinking of both being able to connect with friends and family leading up to the race as well as allowing my wife to be able to use Ironman Live on race day (assuming that works which has been hit or miss).

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I don't know what the Wifi availability is like but if you want data on your iPhone, Rogers has small data plans that you can purchase.

They have a $5 for 60MB week pass option.  60MB won't get you a ton but if you limit it to Ironman live and really basic usage, it would probably be enough.  Worst thing would be you have to buy another one or two over the week for another $5.  There are a bunch of other options on there if you know your usage would be higher than that.

I have a rogers prepaid phone (I am cheap) and I don't remember how much the SIM card cost but you can put as little as $20 on the phone and as Axteraa said, you can opt to buy a 'data weekly pass' or even a 'data day pass' for a reasonable amount from the prepaid amount.

We still have a quite a few mobile phone companies that don't do sim cards but Rogers does.

We finally booked our training weekend. Planning our last big training weekend near the end of July for it.  Looking forward to it.

There's an accommodations sale on the Mont Tremblant website and we got 30% off our stay - i guess the sale is on until June 28th (to book)

How's everyone else doing?

Oh interesting, I will have to look at that.

We are looking at our training weekend for the first weekend of July although we have no other current ideas, if anyone else wants to join us.

Training is going pretty well.  Just did Mooseman last weekend and while not blazing, 6:11 is not bad considering the conditions of the course and the rain and mud.  It was a nice confidence boosting weekend.  I felt pretty strong the whole day.

Those curious about wifi availability. All of the hotels in the village have access to wireless that requires payment, but various coffee shops have free wifi, as well as certain hotels. It's a mixed bag, but I've frequently used the wifi at a coffee shop near the base of the hill during "study-ski" trips with a few friends

Wow, what are we less than 10 weeks out?!  I'm getting very excited how about you all?!  My training is going well.  I have some big weekends coming up but I feel ready to tackle them.  I'm loving the long bike rides but not really liking the longer runs.  I find i'm tired going into them and I end up having to slow down and run them at an easier pace.

How are all you future Ironman Mont Tremblanters holding up?

Training is going really well for me.  I'm really happy with how my body is responding to the training so far.

I'm getting really excited and am looking forward to hearing reports from the half on the 24th (I think).

Good luck to anyone who is also doing the half tomorrow!

The rest of us will be carefully watching and looking for reports of what the course is like.

Hi everyone! I just did the half yesterday, and here are my Garmin files from the race. I forgot to hit start right out of transition on the bike, so the distance is a little short.

Thanks!!!

The bike sure looks easier/more manageable than the elevation chart shows. What was your personal opinion of the course?

Now if I can just replicate your speed...

The swim start photo, I like the swim start photo. :-

I sure hope there is poutine at the finish, that would be AWESOME!!

All the sub 5 people seem to be posting race reports, I am feeling a bit slow. :-)
