There is no direct upgrade/migration path; it is a clean install... but after your initial adjustment period I think that you'll find Win7 to be FAR superior in just about every way.   Granted, I made the switch a long time ago, but there is absolutely nothing about XP that I miss.

I run 7 at home and XP still at work.  Hate it now.  7 is pretty nice.  I still haven't gotten my feet wet with 8.

XP was fun, but a HUGE security risk and would bomb at times.
7 is much better, but watch the UAC (user access control) which will be a hassle if you don't set it appropriately since it is a "security assistance".
8 is a bit confusing to me with it's "simplicity".  I helped set one up on my own time for the first time for someone to earn a little extra cash a few weeks ago, and it was a little confusing at first - Microsoft really changed things and made it hard to find some stuff, like networking.  It took a bit of playing around to set it up.

I'll be getting back into Linux very soon now that I accepted a new position at my job, and will need to relearn that OS.

effing dorks.

I know, right! This country club is super "young" - last time I went to Bingo night it was all people in their 30s, though the announcer guy is probably 100. That was also the first night the waiter called me "Mrs. Boyfriend's-Last-Name" and apparently has a mind of steel as he calls me that every time he sees me now. It's too complicated to correct him so we just roll with it.

I'll be getting back into Linux very soon now that I accepted a new position at my job, and will need to relearn that OS.

When I got my new desktop, I converted my old XP into Linux box.  Downloaded Ubuntu to try and learn it.  I thought I could also do web site design on it a little easier...

Ubuntu is pretty cool,  such a streamlined OS that you can actually just run it from a flash drive.  However, I guess I'm used to windows and how it does a lot of the work for you, so it was a bit daunting to really get into the guts of linux based stuff.  I'm sure it's powerful, but you need to learn it to make it worth while.

The other thing, the old computer was so old, graphically, it couldn't handle the newest version of Ubuntu so the display reverted to an older version which just wasn't as shiny and sparkly as Windows or Apple OS's...

Question for you (or the other ladies).

I was walking around a mall the other night killing time.  Two cute asian girls (not sure if it makes a difference) were wearing what I personally called baby doll dresses, but when I google "baby doll dresses", they didn't look like that.

They were sort of like short poodle skirts but had tool or something under them to get them sort of poofy.  They looked kind of retro, but modern...

Make any sense?  Are they coming back?  I hope so.  What is the official name?

ETA:  Oh, they also sort of reminded me of the whole Harajuku girl look but not so over the top.

I think I have decided to phone it in for half a day...

BUT, someone is going to call with another emergency, I'm sure.

OH, tragic story.  I guy was killed on one of my jobsites the other day.  It was his FIRST day with the company and first day on the job and he was only about 3 hours into the day.  Sounds like it wasn't his fault either.  He fell through the floor of a two story building and hit his head after someone took out some supports to eventually take the floor out and didn't rope it off to keep people from walking on it.

Sounds like someone needs some team building to develop more synergy.  Think out of the box and it make it a win win.

Only if you can leverage organic growth, will that work. And then, will you have the sustainability to streamline the paradigm shift that your creating....or are you just going to try to synergistically create an environment of change?

Either way you will need a think-tank or group-think to construct employee-centric mindshare.

Why don't you reach out and shoot me an e-mail with analytics.

HI TAN!

HI MEH-MEH!

Hm. I got a gorgeous O'Neill surf messenger-style bag with a foam laptop compartment ... lemme see if I can find a pic of it to PM you.

This is the model of the bag; mine had dark green and dark magenta swirls on it. Many designs, many appropriate for office. Super light, super durable, weather-resistant, fits a ton of crap without being bulky like a gym bag.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ONEILL-Official-Cross-body-Messenger-Shoulder-Bag-A4-ONEILL-SALE-NEW-/130900805151

it's cute but not really professional looking...

Did you look at Target? I have one like this, has lasted forever. Every time I go there I see really cute ones, more colorful now-a-days.

does that survive lugging a laptop through airports?  I bought one at target a few years back and the strap BROKE after about 3 months.

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
