DougRob - 2011-03-03 10:40 AM What do you do for a living GrapeJuice? I see Six Sigma for dummies and a book on Java on the Shelves. I too like the colors. Fit figures look good. Looking forward to your report on how your body feels once you have had a chance to go for a long ride.

I am a Independent QA Engineer  currently at clear channel radio doing web testing

I was just going to say something about the Six Sigma!   My SO is a Black Belt in Six Sigma (he said it's really not that difficult, but still....he passed!!).

Nice bike p0rn you got there.

Training log question:  For those of us that use BT logs......

I have this strange purple color showing up on my weekly graph that I have not seen in months?  Any ideas what would be causing this strange phenomenon?   Foot in mouth

Andre. Nice wheels. You look almost like triathlete sitting there on your bike.
Linda:   Feel better.
Trevor. You guys out west are really getting hit with a lot of cold weather this year. Crapping for that outdoor training for IMCda.

SERIOUS QUESTION AHEAD:

I am having stomach issues with my recovery meal after a hard workout (today=VO2), what works for you people?  Been really trying to get a decent amount of protein, but I think it is too much....today's was a fried egg on a 1/3 whole grain tortilla with a sniff of cheese on top....didn't sit well then and I'm still suffering.

Grapejuice:  I love the bike!!  Don't let the MG bother you....we all have our crap laying around.

Linda: Gargle with warm salt water!!!

Dino: You must have had blueberries for breakfast!

We're off to Minocqua in the morning so everyone have a fab weekend.  I don't think we have a single racer.  That's simply gotta change.

Tummy issues are a tough nut to crack at times. Hard runs can really muck my tummy up and it just sucks. Most of the time my post-big-effort "meal" is my moring smoothie (today enjoyed at 12:45pm -- it's not just for breakfast anymore!), which I know I post about all the time (yogurt, soy milk, frozen fruit, banana, tangerines or melon [seasonal], flax, green powder, oatmeal). If that sends my system in a tizzy, I just drink water and eat mild for the rest of the day until it settles down (toast, crackers). Hope you feel better, and enjoy a great weekend away!!

Nice Bike, Grapejuice!

Suzy-hope your tummy starts to feel better...those hard efforts are tough and I often can't eat like my normal ravenous self for the rest of the day, either.

Linda- Oh, no, please take care of that strep throat and I agree with the minnow, salt water gargle for strep.  Rest up and you'll be back at it in no time!

Dino, thanks for posting that so we could all enjoy TAFKAP's silhouette.  oh wait.  he's back to Prince again.

For those of you who heard about my clumsy, oafish tumble this morning, after some ice and advil, I seem to be walking okay with equal weight on both ankles.  that's for you, Birdy.

GRAPEJUICE nice ride.. I have last years model. Haven't put too much timeon it yet due to weather.. But the one ride I did. I love mine it is not as twitchy as my friends Tri bike.

I am excited to put some miles on mine... I just wish I had someone around me that could do a proper bike fit.... I found one tri shop 3 hours away. The first thing they said is "did you buy your bike from us? If not then we are not interested"

Looking good Grapejuice.  John is right.  If you get those long legs of yours working right on that new bike, you're going to be fast.

Too much work and working out, haven't been online as much...

I think I am going to skip Battenkill this year.  Logistically, I didn't plan very well for it.  LOL, I didn't realize it was 8+ hrs away and we would have had to take kids out of school again since we're taking them out for Rev 3.

Other bike races to do that aren't so far away I think.

A shop in london geared to triathlon does.. I won't say their name.

However I called them and they sort of totally snubbed me for not buying a bike from them. I went up to see them in the fall about an entry level bike.. I looked at the P1 and the Felt bike I have now.. but they continued to talked to me about a $4500 Argon 18 and The Cervelo P3 and some Scott bike.. IE no bike under $4300.. Even after I told them several times this is my secondary hobby and my budget was no more then $2000. I was not pleased with them for customer service. They suggested that an entry level bike I would outgrow and that if I bought a Stock P1 they would want to change out about $1000 in components to make the bike right for me. blah blah blah..

I am sure they are great guys.. maybe I hit an off day. But I went back with a friend and she rode their computrainer with her older P2K Cervelo and all they did was cut her up the whole time she was there about how old her bike was and how she should really replace it etc etc.   I think it was funny because she was in the same sprint race as one of the workers their that was cutting her up and she spanked him on the race. I guess his $8000 bike didn't help him much on that race....

Great shop lots of information there lots of talent. But they just seem to WANT big sales. I see the same thing in the scuba diving industry. My local dive shop does the same thing.

Anyways. I would rather not give them $250 to sit on their FIST bike and take measurements and then go home to adjust my bike myself which is what they wanted to do seeing I only have a used bike I didn't buy from them, They "Might" be willing to adjust my bike there for another $250, I refuse to PAY $500 for what I think will end up as a sub par fit because they are not interested in doing it in the first place.

I can do a basic fit myself.. But would like a pro fit personally. I LOVE the info on GRAPEJUICES.. that is exactly what I would like to see Data on my own bike.

Sorry done ranting... It just upset me how they delt with both myself and my friend.

Still not running..

But man I had a GREAT swim last night... 2700 Meters. The other people in my lane said they were having a hard time keeping up last night and asked me what kind of fire got under my butt. Did it in about 75 mins with our breaks, coaching and instructions inbetween. My 400m sets were getting done in around the 8 min mark so I am pleased with that.

Also woke up early thanks to my dog and put 40 mins on my bike with Effort. Knee feels pretty good today. But stll going to adhere to all the PT and make sure I don't try running or anything until I am cleared to go.

It just feels GREAT to get a good hard workout in and feel like I accomplished something for the first time in two weeks.

Your as bad as my workout buddy. We did a 75km bike ride the end of last year. We were both hung over and I was on the verge of tossing my cookies the whole ride.. drinking sports drink and moaning... She was hung over drinking Diet Coke, eating Combos and gummy bears. and trying to convince me we should stop at Taco Bell... REALLY..

What is with you people that have IRON GUTS.....   Laughing

One of the best smells in the worls to me was the smell of my kids heads when they were little! People look at me crazy when I say this, but I read about it a few years ago and it is mostly men that can smell it. They think it may be a way men used to identify their own kids. (shrug) However if was like the best baked bread. (Besides Bono mentions it in a song so I am not alone!)

P.S. Spanky: I would NOT try to do my own fit and I was a mechanic for 6 years. Whenever you make one adjustment you need to determine the effect that will have on the other pieces. A good fitter will swap out parts during the fit to check how appropriate the components (saddle, arebars, stem, etc.) are for you. They will check your alignment, whether your knees go outwards, and a lot more this is virtually impossible to do for yourself.

And the attitude of the shop you describe is unacceptable, good call on NOT using them.

Grapejuice- let me recommend asking before you attempt anything like that unless you have someone available to post bail for you.

So Linda reminded me I haven't updated the MG on my issue.  I had an ultrasound of my pancreas, kidneys, ovaries, etc done this past Tuesday.  Tech said it all looked normal.  I'm supposed to go back to my Dr next but he had already mentioned if its clean he'll be referring me to a urologist.  Unfortunately I'll be out of town all next week so I won't be able to get in until after that. Glad its not a toomah but I'd love some answers.  My Dr did say it was ok to keep on running.  Per his words, he's never heard of anyone die by peeing blood.

To answer Suzy's question regarding things that have made my day or training easier?  Having enough spare time to read the users manual for my GPS watch and figuring out how to get automatic 1 mi splits.  Let me tell you... its the little things.
