SSMinnow - 2009-12-16 5:59 AM Ok people the day has arrived....who is racing this weekend? and what are your goals?
It dawned on me, the racing might be subsiding a bit for some of us, so how about a new question for the week?  What is the one thing you are most proud of in your '09 triathlon season and why?

Ok I'm answering both ...

I'm racing! I still have my sub 25min. 5k goal (25:19 PR) but ...
the race is Sat. and I'm going to be hung over and I've lost some speed from my fall marathon training so
I'll just have to do the best I can!!!!!!!!!

Most proud thing from my tri 2009 season is probably finishing my first HIM at Mooseman in NH.  It was a super tough course.  Lots of hills on the bike and run and a freezing cold lake that I did in my sleeveless wetsuit.  I'm especially proud of the swim since I am so slow and I was worried about not making the cut off.  When I saw the course set up, it looked so far.  I could barely see the far buoys w/ my glasses on.  But I did it.  And it was nice having my family and friends there to root me on.

Suzy- I totally get the pride of learning to swim long.  I am (and I'm sure my coach is too) totally amazed that I can do it now.

2009 has NOT been a good year for me. I have been literally injured all year.  However, I am most proud that I am still on BT and still trying to get better.  Perserverance in the face of opposition has made me better but I guess that in a nut shell is what triathlon is to me anyway.

Congrats to all of us who keep "tri"ing and toe the line to be better than we were yesterday.

No race for me this weekend...The thing I am most proud of from the '09 season is being able to say I had an '09 "Season".  I was able to consistently workout the entire year and completed multiple races!  Looking forward to 2010!!

I was fortunate in 2009 and have several things I am proud of.  I completed my first HIM, took almost 40 minutes off my SavageMan Olympic time from last year, gggggggrrrrr,  took 20 minutes off my Army 10 Miler time and completed a 2 mile ocean swim - first time swimming that distance and in the ocean to boot.

The thing I am most proud of in 2009 is that I had a season as well. Did a bunch of races.  Felt great.
Had a few races where I feel that i raced less than stellar, but my wife always keep me in check with that kind of stuff.
Her comments are always along the lines of "Look at what you have accomplished in the last year, etc, etc."
Sometimes I loose perspective of where I came from.

Suzy not to steal the thunder of this..but maybe next week we can start doing the goals for 2010 as well.
I know John posted something about his 2010 goals a few weeks ago, but honestly, i just dismissed his post.

For me, it's hands down learning how to swim well enough to complete a HIM.  After never learning as a child because I was very scared of the water and the nearly drowning in Hawaii on my honeymoon 19 years ago, it is the single hardest/most humiliating thing I have ever done and by far the most rewarding.  While I am slower than a turtle on land, I could swim forever (ok maybe not that long) and that is amazingly gratifying for this land lover.

Suzy
I won't be racing this weekend but I will definitely be watching the Kona rerun on Saturday. Maybe on my trainer for some of it.I'm most proud of myself for making the decision to get back into triathlon after five years without it. In my first race after the layoff, I managed to stay calm and not get off track in the swim and finished 3rd AG, top 10 female!

Wow, those were a lot of good accomplishments!  SavageMan is tough enough and to take off 40 min. is amazing.  Congrats on your 2 mile ocean swim too!

I did my first couple of tris and duathlons and placed first in my AG for 3 of them.  I ran my first marathon and BQ'd for Boston.  I did OWS in the Atlantic too!

No racing for me.

The thing I'm most proud of is getting myself to enjoy long distance sports and building my endurance.  Before last yr I would have never thought about swimming, running or biking these distances.  Sept of last yr I could barely swim 100 yrds straight, run 1 mile and bike for 20 min straight.  Now I enjoy doing all three for much longer distances.

No racing for me anymore this year that I know of, unless I decide to do the New Years Eve 4 miler...

Thankful that I was able to get in so many different events this year.

Mtn Bike Race, 1/2 marathon, Marathon, 2 x 10 milers, etc, etc.

Just wish I could have gotten in that road bike race, thats one of the goals for next year.

Oh and Sam will be hung over because we have my company x-mas party on Friday.  Small company, close group, so we all drink too much at the x-mas party.

Wow, those are really impressive accomplishments! The goal for my first marathon is to be sub-4hrs, but in the back of my mind there's the thought "maybe you can BQ" too. But I don't think I actually have a shot at it.

Actually, if I can't find some time to run, I might be struggling just to finish!

dalessit - 2009-12-16 10:14 AM No racing for me anymore this year that I know of, unless I decide to do the New Years Eve 4 miler...

Please do not send us any xerox photographs

Aww I'm hurt!

I'll take a few. Just no Tony's please. Cool
