I knew I was going to be lagging behind on my other goals so I didn't even enter them into the challenge. |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Hey all, Sorry I've been MIA the last few days! Was away for Mother's day, and work's been kind of busy recently! I'll try to catch up to the thread later on. For now, some updates from my end: On Saturday, I ran for the first time since my marathon- only 5 miles and I felt a bit sluggish. Not sure if that's normal for post-marathon runs but that's how it was! I'll try to ease back into a running routine, but nothing too long or strenuous for now. Sunday I did my first big outdoor group ride of the season. I don't think I've done any long outdoor rides since my last tri in August (I was a real slacker on biking/swimming over the off-season & winter!) I ended up doing 38 miles, in the middle of which I accidentally dropped my Garmin and it got hit by a car I think it still works, but I'm not sure since I accidentally left it at my mom's house after the ride. Ooops! Yesterday I lifted, so right now I'm pretty much on target for my goals this month. |

One touched down across the street from us but managed to suck its way back up before it decided to just rotate as it went directly over our house. Guess it wasn't our time. Needless to say workouts are not high on the list right now. Our power is still out and they are estimating it could be the end of the week/next week before we get power back. I am working on base temporarily. So while I could go out and get the workouts in they are predicting more storms through tomorrow at least. Right now we are just trying to help our friends pick up the pieces. We had tree damage and movement of items - some weren't so lucky. We gave up our generator and camper last night so they had a place to stay. They need it more than we do right now. Bill - if you are looking at this - can I adjust my counts for the month please - mostly it will be running but I want to get out of severe weather and a chance to shower before I start back too much into it. Sorry team Stacie Glad you are okay. Hang in there! What she said! That is WAY too close for comfort. Stay safe. |

Sorry team Stacie Stacie - you sure can. Prayers to your friends and everyone else! Thanks Bill - right now we are waiting for power to come back and things to be cleaned up. Crews are working 24x7 so hopefully it will be soon. Friends are doing ok considering. We helped tarp what was left of the roof last night and they hooked our generator up to their well so at least they have water inside the house. Not sure I would go into the house but I am sure it is better than nothing. I got a shower finally today at a place here on the base. Water was coldish and pressure was not much but it was better than a bottle of water and washcloth at home. Thanks everyone for the messages and thoughts. We seem to be the lucky ones. They estimated 34 tornados touched down Monday and it completely destroyed 120 homes with many more at all levels of damage. Stacie |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread wgraves7582 - 2010-05-12 6:56 AM Well it is Wednesday and our son's good buddy is going in to have surgery to remove cancerous material in his knee area. He is 13 y/o and I guess they call this Soft Tissue Cancer and it is not a good thing. So far it is just in the knee area and has not spread so we are praying that they get it all and his recovery time is short with the required radiation treatments. I just shake my head at the thought of that for a 13 y/o having to endure that. His name is Cory and if you could pray for him as well I would greatly appreciate it. Wow - a new type of cancer I haven't heard about and at 13 y/o. Prayers being sent for Cory and for your family. Stacie |

Expert 1202 Montana | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread I'm on track with my goals. I met my weight-loss goal in the first week. I borrowed a trainer so I could ride inside because the weather has not been cooperating for rides. Had a tough 3-mile run of hill repeats today. I am running the 10K at the Governor's Cup this year, and the hills can be difficult. |

I will need to take out my running....at least for now, I go to the Dr on Tuesday to see what is going on with my hip. I will be good with both swim and bike though...unless my kick continues to bother the hip, I felt great in the water today but cut my swim short last week due to the hip. For some reason biking feels great! |

Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma or Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia. It represents about 1.5% of all non-Hodgkins lymphomas so its pretty rare. My dad was diagnosed with it and starts chemo Monday. Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Women's May Challenge Thread Ok - I "Think" I am back. We got power back late last night right as the ice cubes started to melt considerably so hopefully we were able to save a bunch of the stuff in the freezer/fridge and deep freeze. I am going to try for a 3 mile run today - my % are off but pending no more "unforeseen" issues I have it mapped to make my goal - I reduced it by 5 miles run, 1 bike and 2 strength (what I missed the past three days). Right now just trying to do things we hate to do but realize when you have no power and such that it needs to be done - dishes, laundry, bills etc. Stacie |
