Anyone else start at the 24 week mark. Looking for some other IMTX athletes to keep accountable with online.

Me too. I started last week. I didn't want to wait till January. I'm dropping time on this IM... it will be better than my last.

Otherwise, I'm wondering when I'm going to have a mental breakdown from being on a treadmill and bike trainer. I suspect in about a month.

I hate cold. Riding in cold. Running in cold. Hate it. I suppose at some point the torture from the cold will outweigh the treadmill and bike trainer (as it will be torture too).

Better cold than heat.  I struggle running when its over 95-97 outside and since I live in the 7th circle of hell where it was over 100 EVERYDAY from the end of April til OCTOBER that is a problem.  Doesn't bother me as much on the bike.  i HATE The treadmil.  The trainer on the other hand no big deal can ride it all day.

What is cold? I have been to Dallas this time of year and to this Michigan boy, it seemed like perfect weather! Laughing

I am running a marathon for fun this weekend in Delaware. Still trying to drop some lbs over the next few weeks and then have a 3 day bender in Vegas the day after Christmas with a group of our friends, get back and come Jan. 1 it is on!

I NEED accountability too!

Are you doing Rehoboth?  I love that race.  Flat course, pretty views, not too crowded.

Well to me, anything under 50 is cold. Yes, I know, it's probably warm for you. Ha! But I'm use to riding and running in 100 degree heat. So 50 and below is really cold. Especially when the wind kicks up. Bbbbbrrrrrrr.

Anyways, I hate putting on layers and layers of clothes. Ugh. Annoying.

I agree and the worst thing about layering up is as soon as I egt a mile or two into a run I start sweating and really wanting to take those layers right off. I do best if I can tuff it out the first few minutes til my blood gets moving then it almost dosen't matter.

Yep, never been to Delaware before so excited to knock that state off my list, plus get to see the Atlantic Ocean again. I know it may sound weird but there is always something cool about seeing the oceans that surround this great country of ours.

I know its all relative. Up here 50 means shorts, t-shirts, windows down driving around. We have two seasons, winter and humid summer.

It dropped into the sixties here for about a minute and by the way people are dressed you'd swear they're exploring antartica

As for the start of training, I never really stopped this year but it'll be interesting how long I am sidelined waiting for everything to get back to the U.S.  Bike is going UPS, trainer is going in the "fast shipment", no idea of pool schedules, so it looks like running and getting used to colder weather until mid-January.  18 days until they pack us out 23 days until we fly, can't wait.

You get to run next to the ocean for a good portion of the course.  Rehoboth is a pretty neat little town.  There's all this summer shore stuff but it has a completely different vibe in the winter.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who started a little early! I started at the 26 week mark- I'm in Colorado and have decided I'm going to enjoy the trainer and netflix for as long as I have to- there are some good movies out!!

I was on the Iamtri site for St George llast year and we all met there and got together forthe dinner ect.... Do the BT'ers do that? Looking forward to spending the next couple months with you guys and hopefully meeting a few in Texas!!

Running by the Ocean is great. I have been living in Rio for Three years. I love training at the beach. Dangerous to ride your bike (cars have very little respect for bikers).

I am looking forward to moving back to the USA. Seattle is on the water so I am hoping it will be nice training area.

I am trying to sell my bike and gear here in brazil and buy it new when I get back to the US. (maybe the new year will have new equipment with a new home)

Welcome to the group. Maybe we should start a movie club while we are at it with all the movies we will collectively be watching on the trainer over the winter Laughing

Uh-oh, you just stumbled onto my other favorite hobby. If your looking for movie to watch, try taking the AFI (American Film Institute) top 100 challenge. A few years ago AFI made a list of the top 100 movies of all time. The challenge is to watch all of them.

Well, I am officially on board for this I decided to do this Ironman (my first) to raise money for a a friend's seven year old daughter, who is fighting Cystic Fibrosis. My goal is to give her inspiration and encouragement through showing her that I will take on something that is a huge challenge to show her that others will fight with, and for, her. I have set my sights on raising $10K for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in her name.

I created a website/blog for this called IronViolet - her name is Violet. I began training about 2 months ago - running/biking - to make sure I could get going. I've since added swims and have continued some light cross-training for strength and overall health. I've done the distance on bike and running over the years, but I've never done this type of swimming, so it has been a neat learning situation for me. I was terrified at first, but now I feel confident that I can work up to the distance ahead of time. I even checked out the swim course/start in person this week down in the Woodlands just so I could better wrap my head around it.

This has been an interesting and enjoyable process so far...challenging, but enjoyable. I missed the general entry for the race before I fully committed to the idea, so I had to do the Ironman Foundation slot entry. It strained my budget, but I paid it today

So...Here Goes!!! I look forward to meeting some of you in person during this training and at the race

Hi folks,

I just found this thread. I am racing Ironman Texas as my eighth Ironman.

The heat should pose a challenge after a winter of training in Maine.

Here is a link to the list; http://www.afi.com/100years/movies10.aspx

I've been working on it for almost 2 years and I am about half way through. As a movie buff I love the challenge because it gives me a reason to watch a movie I might otherwise never consider. watching my first silent movie or a movie with the Marx Brothers in it was a very interesting experience. Also, because most of these movies are older you'll find a lot of them streaming on Netflix.
